Hello fellow people's at realms. I have been really bored at home on Sunday nights so I’m going to pretend I'm a staff writer and give you guys an article about a deck I’m most likely taking to the Philly Shoen jump. First I’m going to review some cards that will be present in my deck then, onto the main deck itself.
Today we will look at a deck using D-heroes rivals of the E-heroes. Looking at the last three jumps, one can see that DDT has top 8 in all of them. While not surprising, the deck is fast and very good. The one thing that bothers me is the fact that nobody uses D-heroes outside of a DDT deck. Is it because they are not good compared to the other top decks? or does no one bother to try D-heroes if its not DDT? The reason I am bringing attention to this is because as of right now D-heroes have the best draw engine a theme could ever want, thanks to the Aster Phoenix packs card "Destiny Draw".
Card # DP05-EN020
Destiny Draw
Spell
Text
Discard 1 "Destiny Hero" card. Draw 2 cards.
This card can not only get rid of cards that you want in the graveyard (D-hero Dasher) but, also dig into your deck for more options in a given situation. Kind of like that card everyone played last format "graceful charity". Next up is another card from the Aster Phoenix packs "Destiny Hero- Malicious".
Card # DP05-EN011
Card Name Destiny Hero - Malicious
Warrior
DARK
Level 6
Attack 800
Defense 800

By removing from play this card while it's in your Graveyard, select 1 "Destiny Hero - Malicious" from your Deck, and Special Summon it.
It’s a shame that this card along with "Destiny Draw" don't see play outside of DDT. Sure it’s a level six with 800 attack but its effect is where it really shines. Being able to remove one from the grave to get another one onto the field is almost broken. Because he has an 800 attack he can be searched out by "Sangan", and good ole "Mystic Tomato". Also because he is a D-hero, Stratos himself. Using this with "Destiny Draw" is an automatic +1; you get two cards and field presence.
Now I want everyone who is interested in this article to have a real good look at a new D-hero that’s only found in the WC2007 video game "Destiny-Hero Disk Commander".
Card # WC07-EN003
Destiny Hero - Disk Commander
Monster
Warrior
DARK
Level 1
Attack 300
Defense 300

When this card is Special Summoned from the Graveyard, draw 2 cards.
Just like Malicious his stats are crap. His effect is also where he truly shines. Once he is special summoned from the grave you draw 2 cards. Mark my words this card might break D-hero decks and make them truly shine. Right now you’re most likely saying "Hotfire there's only 2 cards that most decks play to abuse this card.”Premature Burial" and "Call of the haunted", But that brings me to my next card. The long forgotten "D-hero Fear Monger".
Destiny Hero - Fear Monger
Monster
Warrior
DARK
Level 4
Attack 1000
Defense 1000

If this card is destroyed in battle and sent to the Graveyard Special Summon 1 "Destiny Hero" monster from your Graveyard (except a "Destiny Hero - Fear Monger") during your next Standby Phase.
This card will abuse Disk commander like there is no tomorrow, if he gets destroyed in battle you can get commander from the grave, draw two and have tribute fodder for your turn.
Now that I’m done talking about some of the cards that I will include in the deck list I’m about to tell you what I want to talk a little about a match in the semi finals of the recent jump between Shane Scurry and Lazaro Bellido. I advise you to read how the match played out before you continue to get a better understanding of what I’m talking about. No disrespect to either duelist being that they are both great with top 8 showings but there seemed to me that in match 2 and 3 there was a whole lot of nothing, Absolutely nothing. Both players were stalling and not risking anything because of fear of a brain, snatch or a face down jujitsu master. That is what alot of monarch decks are starting to run this format 3 spy's and 2 jujitsu masters. While monarch decks start off slow then gain tempo with floaters. I plan to escape the need for such defense and build a similar deck that thrives to put your opponent with limited options and pure assault from your monsters by blending the two themes together. Please don't start with "great another monarch build" just bear with me and take a look at the deck lists.
3x Brain control
3x Destiny Draw
1x Heavy Storm
1x MST
1x Pot of avarice
1x Premature burial
2x Reinforcement of the army
1x Snatch steal
Traps
2x Bottomless trap hole
1x Mirror force
1x Ring of destruction
2x Sakuretsu
1x Torrential tribute
There you go my monarch build with destiny hero support engine. This deck thrives on being aggressive when your opponent makes conservative plays and has no choice but to play aggressive and waste his options (cards in hand) just to survive. Once you get a Malicious into the graveyard you can quickly change the tempo of the game at any given moment, Also once you have a "disk commander" in the grave your opponent will think twice as hard to attack your "fear mongers" in fear of you drawing three cards next turn with tribute fodder for your monarchs, putting them right where you want them, on the defensive. Those types of plays limit your foe from doing anything to forcing them to waste cards they don’t want to waste, just to live while you have more options to count in case of a comeback. With maxing out on brain control you can take any of there monsters for a monarch putting them on the defensive so much faster.
I did not include a side deck because that’s up to the way the Meta is in your locals.
Here's a rundown on how the deck fares against certain matches.
Monarch variants- this all depends on what type of build they are running. This deck has the advantage of never letting the monarchs set up putting them on defense. Smart plays and not being scared of overextension will guide you to victory.
Gadgets- these guys will be the hardest match up game 1 gadgets love to use one for ones and hurt you little by little. Since you can keep up with their advantage with the draw power this deck thrives on, it’s anyone’s game. Game 2 goes to the sideboard.
Macro-this can be a problem you don’t want macro on the field very long because it will hurt like crazy. It's hard, fast and needs to go to the sideboard games 2 and 3.
Demise otk-lets face it you will most likely lose round one as with all otks. Finish him game two and 3 with the sideboard.
Burn variants- same as demise go to the sideboard
Six samurai- in order to win this match up you must never let them set up or you will lose. Save your "brain controls" for the likes of shogun and grandmaster, big threats in the swarm.
Bazoo return- while this deck is indeed fast you can out pace them with your draw power use your m/t destruction wisely. Game 2 royals any one?
DDT- another otk fast but could be beaten with aggression. Strike fast but be aware they do run three "lightning vortex”, you need the side board to win.
Well that’s my whole article hope you guys enjoyed my deck and how it works feel free to post your comments and ratings for it. Scapegoat boy could this be the next deck you review? Lol. Anyway before I end can no one suggest taking out both ROTA and a destiny draw? Even though it looks like it’s too many for the targets, they work wonders together and it is behind the same logic as running 3 gravekeepers spy. Thanks again to all those who read the whole thing. Awaiting your feedback.
There are a few missing commas, colons, and apostrophies, but all in all it was pretty well put together. Did you type this in notepad?
If you'd like to get this article featured on the front page you should try bringing it to the attention of Mr. Chaos. He'd likely ask you to clean it up a little, but after that it's possible that you'd get a spot.
I like the material a lot, but I'd feel like grandstanding if I reviewed your article on a theme that I've already written a fair amount on. Especially since I was most egomaniacal while writing on this subject.
Besides, why would I write an article on a deck that already had an article written on it? Try Mr. Chaos or another staff writer.
