Well with the new inclusion of Indy I've found a new best friend for my Dr. Doom based teams. Vet Lobster Johnson ! At 72 points he's now the lowest point cost figure with Impervious, and now that Impervious and Mastermind are compatible, this just makes the game very interesting. (I know R Judge Mortis is cheaper than Lobster and has 2 clix of Imp, but I live in america and I'll be ####ed if I'm paying over $5 for a UK exclusive rookie figure) Not only does this impervious rock with Doc Doom's Mastermind, but LJ also has Stealth, so no one can snipe him instead of targeting Doom, Outwit, always useful, and he's a Wildcard like Doom too boot. And if he does get tagged, use that phasing to get back to a medic. What do you guys think ?
Definitely sounds cool, but you must admit that it ties up a load of points. That, and should an Outwitter tag Doom and disable his Mastermind the whole deal can fall apart. Still, interesting. Now instead of the Salad Shooter (Doom+Swampy) we've got the LOBSTER CANNON (C)!!! LOL, really hope that name sticks.
Yes you do, under the new rules, Impervious activates when the figure is dealt damage, no longer when it is the target of attack, Grundy and Swampy are always good choices, but I see Swampthing as more of a offensive piece and grundy as a nice type up. Even for the points I feel that LJ is the perfect Mastermind partner, sure it eats up points between the two of them, but have Doom taxi himself and LJ both into hindering, and almost no ones going to be sniping you, LJ has Stealth, and Doom will have either a 16+1, 17+1, or 18+1 defense against ranged attacks. And if you're worried about your opponents black panther Outwiting Dooms master mind, simply use LJ's Outwit to cancel his, lol. And soon as LJ does take Damage, hes got phasing to get him back to the medic, I tend to use this team in 400 point games for the most part. I have fielded it with a rookie doom and V LJ in a couple 300 pointers, but without the secondary attacker or the extra support pieces, it was harder to pull off. But if Doom's your favorite piece (like me) then LJ just rocks for him.
I also suggest taggin them up with either Rookie Steel (for the superman TA) but truth to tell, I really hate steel, for his deep dial and decent stats he still sucks, I suggest instead going with a Rookie Kabuki, for 33 points, you get a 10 attack, 3 damage, Blades/Claws/Fangs, supersenses, and Doom and LJ can copy the wicked useful Kabuki TA. No more wastin points on Robin for the best TA in the game, keep all 3 together, and no ones snipin at you, when they come in close, have Kabuki B/C/F them back to where they belong (using Doom perplex to lower defense, and LJ outwit to take away any Invulnerability). And plus when LJ's Phasing back to the medic, you can mastermind onto her till he gets back, you can clump without fear of Energy Explosion, yay !

I like the combination, but the above won't work unless your opponent puts his Black Panther out in the open. The Panther has Stealth, just like LJ, so they can't see each other at range if they're on hindering terrain.
Originally posted by Funky Jett Well, truth be told, my Black Panther will be in hindering terrain as well, so LJ wouldn't be able to Outwit ANYTHING on Black Panther.
Actually, if Lobster has Superman TA to copy, yes, he can outwit into stealth. They changed the wording on the Superman TA to include moves, attacks, and powers.

thugit, I know what the new rules say. However he said he didn't want to use Steel (or any of the Superman Allies for that matter). Instead, he recommends using the Kabuki ability. That will only prevent my Black Panther from Outwitting his duo (provided they are on hindering terrain).
So he wouldn't be able to Outwit my Black Panther.
In my day, we didn't have Heroclix. If you were being attacked by Superman with a 3d dumpster, you just had to hope you could outrun him.
Along similar lines, I'm going to be interested in evaluating Critical Mass' Hulk, as he has both ranged attack (8, I believe) and the Spider-man wildcard TA. In a mixed universe game with some level of Robin, say, and a rookie Steel, he'll be formidable with his Hulk stats backing it up. At 147 pts (if I'm remembering correctly) the combo with a Steel and a Robin would be around 230 pts, which still leaves room for two or three good pieces on a 300 pt team. What I'm uncertain of is whether or not he has Leap/Climb over most or all of his dial, and what his Speed is.
If you team him with Superman TA, it really doesn't matter if he has l/c. He can't jump onto buildings, but he would never have to break away, or be hampered by hindering terrain.
