I don't mind new LE every week but still want send ways for the campaigns. I think that add more easy access LE to the pool of LE. So have the 6-10 LE that month plus 2 send aways for the factions that have the campaigns that month. Also more send like Geo keane I think a send away with every case you buy you can send away for mech.
Campaign send aways are called Redemption Prizes, and they were done away with. As for case send aways, it might be feasible. Might boost case sales if the LE was particulary rare.
I think we could still have redemption prizes. Yes means about12 more LEs a set. I like geo keane got himon friday.I think that was cool and there should be more easy ways to get some LE for others players. I personally win 1-3 tourneys a week so I'm just maake it easy for some LEs.
The redemption prizes were done away with at WK because of cost and participation issues. They will not be returning in any form for the forseable future. Having a send away for buying an entire case...if they were going to do something like this, they would have kept the clix...that would have been the only viable way.
I personally they need to go back to the old system, atleast partially.
If they want to get rid of participation prizes I guess thats alright, but I wish they still had the older style campaigns. Atleast then you had 4 weeks in which you could try to win the specific prizes.
Economically I think it would be better since you would be making less production runs of different LEs, and just making larger quantities of the ones you are making.
As a Battlemaster, I have to say that folks at my venues (before the end of the Mail-away redemption pieces) appreciated the fact that, even if they got slaughtered in every campaign game, they were able to still send off for a "goodie" mech that they wouldn't otherwise have.
To a degree, I can understand WizKids' decision to end the redemption program. We, the players, did not send off for as many as they thought we would, so it became cost-prohibitive for them to create these figures when they weren't really making any money for them:
1) Cost of shipping - a couple of bucks
2) Cost of making the figures - a buck or less
3) Cost of creating the forms, receiving the forms and processing the forms - a buck or two averaged out per figure
When the bottom line showed them that they were losing money doing this, they had to stop it.
However, from the player's standpoint, it stinks. I play at a couple of venues, and there are some really competitive players who win regularly (myself included). At the same time, there are some players who aren't "into" Mechwarrior as much as we are, so they rarely win the Championship prizes. I know they would like to win some "goodie" pieces, but with the reduction of the number of events that WizKids supports (it used to be 7 or 8 events that we could run, now the maximum number is 4), those players who play irregularly miss out on winning a prize.
Originally posted by Hicks Yes, but how many people actually go about buying cases? I'm happy to have the couple bucks to buy a handful of boosters.
We divide a case by 3-4 guys. It makes 'em alot more affordable.
Redemption mechs were outstanding. A great program. Around here, most players do not win tournaments. It is just too competative. My 7 yr old son really liked the fact that he got a prize just for playing.
The old system certainly had its problems. Its too bad WK could not fix without killing it.
