...stopped producing 'Mechs during the "Dark Age". I assume when they come into play in the campaigns (namely JF in the upcoming expansion) they should have the ability to produce new and improved 'Mech as does the Dragon's Fury now on Irian. I just know WKs isn't bold enough to say the clans completely stopped making 'Mechs and lost the technology, right?
Well, I Honestly do not think ANY of the clans would stop Researching, Or Producing mechs.......That would be a death blow to the clan way of life, it will never happen and if WK should try to pull that we will have some angry angry clanners...I just want a Jade Falcon Turkina...O_o
EXACTLY! there is no way the clans still on the home worlds would have been abiding by the republics rules. No way at all. I mean, why SHOULD they decommision and stop research and all of that? the ones with holdings in the inner sphere, sure, and the ones who joined the rpublic, but why would the rest of em?
I am confident that the diamond shark/seafox clan would never stop researching and upgrading our mechs as we are a clan obsessed with with mercantile efforts. you have read about slight upgrades we hav given mechs like the mad cat II in dossiers. it is only a matter of time until all groups that will be affected by this darkage arise to defend themselves. I believe that the clan I have sworn an oath to will rise adn once again bring honor to the clans if not a vast...profit.

And for that very reason, there may not be much left of the Home
Clans. ;)
resorted to nuclear war? is you crazy or just a fool? ( just kidding take it easy) The only clan to ever use Nukes was wiped out to the last child. I seriously doubt that they would go that far again now. Not with their ideals about combat. Close and personal. they don't even like Arty, so nukes are pretty much out. WHy would there be little left of the home clans? Did the inner sphere go back and try and finish them off? No, it SHOULD be just as before, they spent time improving and researching. no where that i have read say's any different anyway

I know very well the clans taboo against nukes, but they have shown that in deperate time they screw their code of honor and just hit where it hurts to win. Look at how they adabted to Inner Sphere tactics, and look at places like Turtle Bay......
AHHh Turtle bay on Edo! but that was a retalitory strike, and orbital bombardment against what they thought of as less than honorable opponents. it wasn't something they did to themselves, and even the forces of the inner sphere never use nukes. At least I never read anywhere of them doing it. could be wrong though
Well I must say the WOB word of blake did indeed use nukes and chemical weapons 2 things hated by all the rest of the Inner Sphere. The clans did have one clan that had a trial of destruction posed onto it because they began using nukes I believe that was steel viper or wolverine i apologize to the faction that wasn't involved for mentioning them.
I would like to point that WizKids, as the entity in charge of the canon, is the only entity with the ability to determine what the Clans would not or could not do. If they wanted to, they could have the Clans mounting dresses on all of their 'Mechs and replacing all of their weapons with squirt guns. Ergo, wait until those who make the canon to decide if/how the Clans may have changed in the 60+ years since CBT.
That said, read the INN flavor text. They'd already described the Clans in the IS as well as mentioned the Home clans. While they havent completely cut production, they have severely cut back.
I also dont know where people get this idea of the clans being heavy researchers. The Clans havent developed anything really new since the Golden age. It wasnt until the Inner Sphere started to catch up that they started researching again.
