Is there anyone in the Inner Sphere (or any of the Clans) who would be coming to help the Republic? I know Battletech is generally every state for itself, but I think we could use a new motivation for a faction.

I was really hoping Clan Jade Falcon would be swooping in to defend the creation of Devlin Stone, a man the Clans were supposedly impressed by, buy after reading the "Touring the Stars" write up on them again, I think they are coming in as invaders (just like House Liao *yawn*). I hope their focus is more on the Steel Wolves and Spirit Cats though. I can see the JF regarding these two "Sub-clans" as abominations to be destroyed.

Anyway, is there any group in the IS that would send help, or spawn a faction that would decide to help?

Thus far, the Republic has the Highlanders support and the Swordsworn's official support (unofficially, they're out for themselves I believe).

I'm just kind of tired of Faction A's motivation is to grab as much Republic territory as possible for itself. Faction B the same, Faction C the same, blah blah blah

I think the SS are more along the lines of...

"Oh, yeah, we're here to help you, nice kind Republic friends! No, really! We really are! Look at this monkey! Look at the silly little monkey!"

*grabs worlds while Republic is distracted*

I think it would be sweet if House Marik jumped in to help out the Republic. I'm not big on CBT but I believe they were the smallest House so if the Republic went down the other gouses would be free to attack whom they please and seeing Marik is the smallest it would probobly lose territory, so keeping good ties with the ROTS would help them and give WK an excuse to bring back the last House not already in the game in some form. Of course all this is what I thought I heard somewere so if I'm totally wrong don't flame me I was just trying to answer the question.

On the wizkids site, read the discription of the new book coming out in February. After I read that, I really don't think the Republic is going to last much longer.

Well based on the politics of CBT I doubt that any of the Inner Sphere Houses would outright support the Republic. A majority of them lost worlds to the formation of the Republic and as pointed out they had a tendency to be out for their own interests. Perhaps some alliance that gave back some worlds or support when the house went after another. That kind of alliance however would be opposed to the Republic's stand on being a 'peaceful' nation. Maybe one of the ajoining Houses would want to get in on countering House Liao and take any worlds not already in the Republic.

So, in other words, WizKids would have to make up another faction (ala Bannson's Raiders) to assist the Republic. A little disappointing, but I guess it's staying true to the BT universe.

I would hope the Spirit Cats would honor their Warden past and join in the defense of the Republic. Perhaps Clan Sea Fox would as well.

Jade Falcon won't be helping.

Perhaps ComStar will make an appearance.

@Silent_Recoil - The description of the book has nothing to do with the Republic. It has everything to do with House Davion hating House Liao, and using their Swordsworn as a tool to beat back the Capellans. You can't infer anything about the state of the Republic from the little text we have available.

Problem that Draddog has pointed out is that what happens in the universe, campaigns & novels isn't contigious. RotS is dominating campaigns, yet still losing worlds and losing in the books.

I expect RotS is going to continue to get hammered, but hang in there with HL support. I can't see JF helping RotS, same for SW. Mebbe SC, but a lot depends on what 'vision' they perceive for the future.

Jade Falcon's going to tear the republic a new one, but I really doubt that wizkids will get rid of the republic. I think it was stockpole who said that the republic was created to give the story line something new rather than yet another succsion war.


And just so you know, it was clan rabid squirrel that took down the HPG grid with the help of Clan Jiggle Puff.

I think they might be able to get Superman to help.

So what is it that we have then? Seems like a succession war to me. Jsut involves the prefectures not the old Houses. Unless we wind up having some major outside force comming in and causing the disruptions it's an internal conflict ie; succession/powergrab.

My guess is that the falcons are going to make a push to Terra. This means they will have to go thru the Stormhammers to get to there. They should just stay home.

Also look for the Steelwolves and the JF to not like each other very much. Fluffwise look for the attack on terra by the SW as the reason why JF show up being as they always wanted to be the clan that took terra back for the clans.

Clan Jiggly Puff (colors: Eggplant and Mustard, animal symbol: miffed poodle) were too busy putting pleather seat covers and fur-lined neurohelmets into their mechs to be of any help. If I remember correctly, they accidentally set fire to one of their dropships when their curling irons and makeup mirrors overloaded the electrical system. The Squirrels were going to offer you up as scapegoats, but realized that nobody would have ever believed it.

But seriously, I expect Steel Wolves and Jade Falcons to fight enough between themselves that neither will be terribly effective. The Stormhammers will also hand them a big buttkicking. By the time they get to Terra, a topless Tara Campbell (courtesy of DelRio) will beat back the entire Jade Falcons advance with her bare...ummm...hands.
