There has been a lot of negative stuff around here.
I have a long list of reasons why I love wizkids and I want you to add yours to the list as well
1. When this game launched it had the coolest (and still does) organized play
system around. I loved being able to send away for free mechs and I still love the amazing prize support they provide on their dime!
2. I Love that they mad a drop ship even though I'm willing to bet they lost lots of money to bring us that cool piece.
3. I love that they sent my friend Dean to the Worlds and paid for his way. I love that they look after competitive players by flying them to the worlds and putting them up and giving them oodles of prizes for winning national and world championships.
4. I love that they do make changes and ask for imput from the gaming community.
5. I love that they paint my figures for me ( I have about 60 cbt figures that still need paint and with 4 kids and a wife and job no time to paint)
6. I love that they give battlemasters stuff to encourage them to be battlemasters thereby reducing the burden on the local store owners which in turn encourages play in their stores (because in effect wizkids is paying for the battlemaster to be there). This allowed at it's height I think 7 or 8 venues in my area to hold game events regularly
7. I love that now I have, in effect, army men with rules. I wish I would have had that at 10.
8. I love that they put up with all the complaining. And I love that they even bother to address it.
9. I love that it's the best collectable game out there.
A positive thread is such a rarity. :) I wonder how long before the trolls smell it out and flame us all :)
I love the way that Wizkids has not just said screw it and dropped the whole OP thing because of the constant complaining. They are far more patient than I could be.
I agree on all your points about the positives of wizkids... despite my negative feelings for the way the retirement issue was handled, I do think that they have done a good job with mechwarrior overall...
Yes, I suppose positive threads are somewhat rare. There were plenty when Wizkids made the fairly recent rules changes. It seems to me, however, that if you get hit in the head with a hammer, you say "ouch!" or something along those lines, unless you are some kind of idiot or masochist and simply enjoy getting smacked around.
I don't concider it being smacked. It is something I am mature enough as a person and as a gamer to accept as something that needed to happen, and honestly, I have been expecting it for some time now because it is the only way for a collectable game to have any kind of longevity outside of power creep, IMO.
If anyone has a better idea to give the tournament players that already have most everything already a reason to buy more, that will not run out eventually and without power creeping, then I would love to hear it... in fact here comes my next thread.

Its made of plastic. The hinges come off when touched, but they still charged $300 dollars for a poorly made dropship. They must of lost alot of money. I'm not saying it wasn't nice to create the Dropship, I'm just saying they did it intending to make a profit.
I just wish there was a way to keep the game going stong.
After the retirement, even MtG popularity dropped. A lot. Enough to say YEARS later, it had a come back. Other CCGs have not done this. Will MW (Battletech) fanatics keep it alive or will it go the way of MW:CCG?
I would hope not.
That's why I'm going to still play this game.
And it still looks so cool!!
I'm not sure exactly how to feel...the prize support has been good in our little town...WK did inform us of the retirement... I play just as much at home as at the venue so even if some of my pieces get retired they'll get used...because on my battleground you BRING WHAT YOU GOT!!. It will make an excuse to have people over to the house to BATTLE it out.
I hope MW is here to stay...it is cheaper than 40K...less rules...easier to play.
Change is just one of those things we have to deal with sometimes... in the words of someone famous--IMPROVISE, ADAPT, OVERCOME (Clint Eastwood-Heartbreak Ridge).
Hopefully something good will come out of all of this...and the players that are upset will I.A.O. and stay with the game, because we need their experience...and passion for the game
Since I don't go to tourneys and am a collector instead,I don't mind the retirement plan...or actually, its better as I can acquire Dark Age DF units easier! :D

So you're also saying that you're mature enough to enjoy being subjected to shady promises? That causes no problems in your mind?
When I became aware of MW, I was amazed at the sanctioned play and support aspect of it. I hadn't seen anything quite that nice before. Of course, there were alot of happy players in my area (still are, BTW), so that made it even more enjoyable.
I loved this game then, and I still do. I'll play it 'til no one else wants to anymore.
