Not that this is a serious effort at game changing discussion, and it may very well have been discussed already, but just for giggles I was pondering a mech rule.
WHAT IF - mechs could perform 2 actions a turn? Wait there's more- including stacking?
walk = 1 order
run = 2 orders (stacked walking)
attack primary = 1 order
attack secondary = 1 order
special attacks = 2 orders
no order - cool down 1 heat
single order - no heat change
double order - gain 1 heat
So obviously a mech cannot run and shoot, which isn't CBA accurate but helps keep things from being uber (imagine BH running and shooting) nor having to remember shooting modifiers.
This doesn't change the current ruling of any SEC, not even Evade, nor would it need to effect IT since again you can move-shoot but not run and shoot.
I think we would need to go back to three orders per 100 points, or something, so that Mechs would not suck up all the orders of an army... either that, or make some, you know, *cheap* command vehicles.
This would actually be quite beneficial...Of course something like S7's actions would be nice...Have each mech get a series of "Mech Actions" 2-3 (or more w/ command) which would ALL count as 1 order (2 mech actions makes 1 army order)
Keep "Break Away" as an entire action (not breakaway THEN move) so that the whole base-and-break mechanic is presereved.
This point has been raised by me to WK almost 6 months ago, i and some others play tested it and it makes Mechs king again. But apperently, WK thinks it makes the game to complicated........
That is the feedback i got.
I think it would solve any problems with the game ad yes you need some restrictions like no 2x runing and some others. I wont go into now. I believe it is the best solution to keep the game MECHwarrior and not POGwarrior.
well warrior sage those i deas sound really good. which is probably why wizkids will probably not use them. it has been my opinion ever since i was old enough have a job that the higher ups will not do the simple and easy thing but try forthe most complicated and pointless actions.
mechs are allowed 2 orders per turn with the following restrictions:
- cannot be given 2 move orders
- cannot be given 2 vent orders
- each damage type (primary & secondary) can only be used once
- shutdown mechs cannot receive 2 orders
- a mech that makes a special attack cannot be given a second order
- special attacks cannot be a second order
- appropriate heat (and effects) is applied after each order is done
I always felt they should be like Titans in Mage Knight:
(Something like this)
In Mech Warrior games, a ‘Mech can be given two of its controller’s actions in a turn if it is not in base contact with
an opposing figure at the beginning of its controller’s current command phase. If it is in base contact with an
opposing figure at the beginning of its controller’s current command phase, it can be given only one action that
turn. This one action can be a move action, a close or ranged combat action, or a special action.
If a ‘Mech is given two actions, the first must be a move action. The second can be another move action, a
close or ranged combat action, or a special attack. Even if a ‘Mech is given two actions during a turn, it gets only one
action token; give it the token after it resolves its first action for the turn.
