- something ultra-powerful to punch through armor
- something with insanely high targeting ability (for those one-shot cockpit kills)
- something that requires little or no power, and can be camouflaged or stealthed like crazy. You will likely not get two shots at the mech once it sees you and strafes your position. (gauss rifles and lasers run off a mech's fusion reactor, batteries are HEAVY, leaving you with ballistics.. one-shot thunderbolt missile - still experimental - and a laser TAG system maybe?)
The Zeus heavy rifle is a common sniper's weapon, often used in assassinations or for battlefield anti-tank/anti-'Mech support. It's essentially a huge rifle with a load bang and a huge punch.
I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall that Ryan Steiner got shot through some bulletproof glass by one of these guns firing some special rounds.
I'd probably compare it to a .50 sniper rifle in the modern arsenal (can take out light armored vehicles).
There are also man-pack PPCs (the GDL used those a lot), as well as the field autocannon (see the MWDA TACs).
That explains it. I was under the impression that we were talking about a type of weapon which would be mounted on a vehicle or a 'Mech. But it's an infantry weapon. You learn something new every day.
Glory fire? What's a glory fire? I've heard of the Glory, but not the Glory fire.
The Glory fire support tank ought to be though of like this:
name = glory; type = fire support tank
Anyway, I think the Magshot is a man-pack gauss, is it not? That'd explain why rifle infantry could hurt a 'Mech. I believe that DelRio (may its bones be ground to dust) mentioned them in the Highlander arsenal.
Also, don't the heavy SAWs do anti-'Mech damage? The same as an MG (2 points, is it?).
Didn't the Kurita DEST teams in their Kage Battle Armor in the Twilight of the Clans series field personal Gauss Rifles? Was it mounted on the suit or a separate rifle?
Originally posted by Nanhold Kage Battle Armor is most commonly equipped with an infantry-type Gauss rifle. It's an integral part of the suit.
Was this in a TRO?
The current CBT Master Rules state that a standard squad of Kage BA was armed with anti-personel weapons. Only the lead unit carried a anti-Mech weapon (a flamer, small laser, compact TAG, or a anti-Mech MG).
If it was in a TRO can anyone tell me which one it was in or what web site has it up?
mind you, this gun will be mounted on a mech, something similair to what the zues(mech) has in it's one hand, i think it's the energy damage one. but it's that gun on roids:devious:
maybe, even if it had to be on a quad mech, like a huge tarantula. something like that.

It was a Typhoon class gauss rifle...can't remember exactly, but i know for sure that it was called Typhoon...I was going to quote the book word for word, but I couldn't find the passage.
