I don't know where you are at, but many times the local gaming stores have stock. Also, I find most people come to tournies with trade stock (the tournies are on the wizkids site).
Classic Mad Cat? The Timber Wolf? Out of luck...not in Dark Age. Not really, anyway. They used the Timber Wolf design for the Wolf II accidentally. There are Mad Cat IIs and Mad Cat IIIs...you might have to settle for one of those.
If there is no particular place to get these online, then could you tell me which of the boosters have the greatest liklihood of sporting a Mad Cat II or III?
Additionally, Apart from the "Vede" figure, what other MC LE are out there for me to search for?
All this random miniature stuff reminds me of trading cards way back in my youth!!!
There's a bunch of assorted Mad Cats in MWDA
Mad Cat III:
55 ton medium Mad Cat.
Mason Dunne (Republic of the Sphere)
Kendric Fetlanderal (Steel Wolves)
Mad Cat MKII
95 (?) Ton Assault Mad Cat, looks like the regular 75-ton Mad Cat
Angus Drummond (Spirit Cats)
Kal Raddick (Steel Wolves)
Seka Ward (Steel Wolves)
Inova Wolf (Steel Wolves)
Mad Cat II
90 (?) ton Assault Mad Cat, distinguished by the different arms and lack of missile pods.
Greg 'TheVede' Vederman (Liao)
Gus Edglingeton (Merc-Hanson's Roughriders)
Jonya 'Jab' Simmons (Bannson's Raiders)
One last thing, if Steel Wolves are so MC oriented (if I look at the number of miniatures), then what boosters am I likely to find Steel Wolf mechs in? Is it completely radomised or do you have certain factions in certain sets?
Actually all the Madcat's currently in the game are II's or III's, the Two's look a lot like the orignoal(See Angus Drummond or Seka Ward) But now we have ones who look like madcats without misiles and different arms(see gus) Then we have the little madcat III's that look like a cross between a shadowcat and a Mad Cat O_o
the chance of getting a mad cat in a booster is miniscule.
get one off ebay and save youself a lot of money. personally id go for inonova wolf - instead of salvage, she gets bypass, and so can swap mechs in the middle of a battle (genius!) if damaged enough. if youve just got paid, go for gus edgington, who has a 0-14" alpha strike of 5 and a vent rating of 3.
both are awesome mechs, it depends on your choice of sculpt, and how much cash youve got.
LE BTW means you wont get it in a booster - you have to win a tournament or buy it off ebay, which is a much better option. here in england either mech will set you back in the £10-£20 region including postage.
You can sort of still get a Timberwolf/Mad Cat, just get a Mad Cat MkII it's just the orginal sculpt. Or alternativly play CBT and by yourself a Timberwolf.
Inova Wolf is my favorite Mad Cat. She's got good stats not typical of the Steel Wolves, and I love the paint job.(LE)
Gus Eddington is a great mech as well. The Decoy and high defense make him a tough target.(Unique)
If you have a shot at Angus Drummond, go for it. He's a well rounded MCII with solid stats. (Unique)
For some reason, Seka Ward is hard to come by(in my area anyway). She's got good stats as well, however she also came with a misprinted dial the last 3 clicks.(Unique)
Jab Joyna doesn't have the range to balance out her rather dismal stats. In alot of ways, this mech is a dissappointment.(LE)
The "Vede" was a send away and those who have him don't give him up.(LE)
Kal Raddick is impossible to get without $75 to $100. His stats suck along w/his heat dial. Definately not worth it.(LE)
Kendrick Fetladral is a MC III and a solid light to medium battlemech. You'll have to watch his heat dial as bad stuff happens rather quickly. For the point value, he gets people worried.(Unique)
Then there's MASON DUNNE MC III. Dude, pony up the big bucks for this. It was the very first Marquee prize. It was also sent as BM support after the Faction Wars(which brought the price down a little). Very hard to get. Very expensive point wise(190+). Very deadly on the playing field with it's 12 attack and 14 inch range. It's 21 defense is a little disappointing though. Nevertheless, in a Big Game, he ROCKS! Very cool paint job.
I have had a little success fielding a combo of Kendrick and Seka. Just set some water within running range, kill infantry with the MCIII and everything else with the MCII. Power to the Wolves.
