1: Stores order to much of Falcons Prey.... it is sitting stacked everywhere.
2: Stores had to make their pre-orders for AoD 3 months ago, so seeing that FP was not flying from the shelves they ordered lightly on AoD.
3: People didn't preorder their cases 3 months early, so this also caused stores to under order.
4: Wizkids seems to short supply at first to create false demand for the product.
5: AoD is actually pretty good so alot of people who said they were not going 2 buy much changed their minds and did.
6: Getting things through customs can also be a hassle. Look at PoTSM, they second wave of printing got into stores before the last of the first wave every got to the wharehouses....... so I've heard.
Drachelord, you have hit the nail right on the head. This happens to comic book stores at least three times a month. Non-regular customers don't here about books untill after it comes out (sometimes it's right before) and then wonder why we are out. Of course, if ti's Marvel WE CAN'T EVEN GET REORDERS. The problem is, if we over order on something and it doesn't catch on... we take a major bath. The collectable game market functions almost the same way. Ask me how many SportsClix boosters (and starters) we have collecting dust. Plus, good point about customs, I've got a friend in the shipping business and you should here the horror stories. I'm amazed that any Wizkids product arrives on the street date.
and from the amount of whining people do on the realms, lol, mabye they assumed AoD would flop. i mean, we had people saying AoD was ruining the game before full rules were even out!
AS I understand it, if you wanted to run the Kill and klick event you had to order 4 cases. My local store got that much, we have (had) piles of it. Local store owned guesses (and i think rightly) that anything before customizable mechs was going to instantly become obsolete in the eyes of the local gaming population. Good news for me that Falcon's Prey is now on sale dirt cheep, and 75% of the contents of the boosters are not affected by the lack of modifyablility. I can try and get a few starts of Falcon Elementals cheaper than ever.
