my friend pointed out something very interesting. he said and i quote "its nice the finaly got rid of all that stupid fluff for something usefull like these cards". i figured i would just throw that out there
it definitely was fun. it was just a waste of space i know i have alot of it in my room and its useless but what was realy cool is the intensionaly left blank cards so people could not feel boxes for le cards
I dont miss having to store the freakin' things. I enjoy the fluff and all, but dossiers were not my preferred method of getting it. The cards still give us a good sense of fluff while serving a GAME purpose. Plus they're much more easily stored; seems the only thing that could really hold dossiers was an LE box.
Well i had no problem storing them, i have a box from deck screws that is the perfect size, although i mis them it would be nice if they did an abreviated dossier on a card sized paper that way we still got our fluff ... in a new more convinient and less faty serving :D

Without the "stupid fluff" there would be no back story to get to where we are now! No Battletech, and no Mechwarrior.
Also, there is still the fluff on the cards - quotes on the SA cards, and try reading the back of the pilot cards.
The cards are better, but the dossiers are missed - just for the weapons loadouts. We used to be able to settle the "who is the hardest Atlas" question using Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries - now, alas, we cannot.
verry good points all of u but also the fluff pissed me off alot with things like a mech have jump jets lised in fluff but the actual piece does not even have jets????????????

That was explained as the O5P having old info about the mech, remember the Dossiers were not made by the pilots but the O5P

This can also be explained by the fact that the mech's pilot simply does not use his or her mech's jump jets in battle.
Yeah, frankly jump jets have always seemed to be one of the more ridiculous concepts in the overall ridiculous "military tactics" game that is CBT. Frankly, if I were fighting, the very last thing I would want to do is launch myself in a fairly predictable arc straight up into the air, away from cover, clearing all lines of fire to myself and being as manuervable as a flatulent cow launched from a trebuchet while doing it.
But hey, we all know how accurate and realistic CBT was. Pardon me, "is."
I thought i would miss the dossiers, but I don't since the "fluff" I like to read (besides the novels) is now printed on the pilot cards instead. I find the cards a lot more easy to store than the boxes with dossier as well. Just had to add my $0.02 into the fray. ;)
