Take heart, my friend! There was a time when every army in the Top 8 was
mechless. This is progress! :)
As for the ATV's, they're gone in January too. ;)
When was that? 2003, Bart made a top8 appearance, while 2004 saw 4 Mech armies in the top 8. (2003 I'm not sure of the other top 8 armies, but I know one was Bart-inclusive)
And I hate to be the lone dissent, but the schedule they annouced long ago had no more "mass retirements" but a set by set retirement. That would only put out LI in Jan, with CA following in May, then FP in Sept and so on.
Think of it this way. To retire LI, CA and FP in Jan, would only leave 4 sets as playable. The stated "tournament legal set" size is 6 sets. (AOD, FI, AN, and the Jan set vs. CA, FP, AOD, FI, AN, and the Jan set)

As I recall, Bart appeared twice, BR lego appeared twice (one army had bart and lego), and Janis Nova Cat appeared once.

*SHRUG* OK, so most armies in the Top 8 have been mechless. ;)
Also, it was my understanding that everything up to, and including, CA was going
to be retired. That would leave Falcon's Prey, Age of Destruction, Firepower,
Annhilation, and the January set as the active sets. :)

As I recall, that was before the the infiltrate rules were nerfed. Then, everyone
and their brother were playing BR Legos (in some cases, two in an army) for the
20" infiltrate. :cheeky:

I don't remember it being announced this way. What I recall is that they said that they were NOT going to retire them one set at a time.
But I migth have missed somthing. I'll ask Draddog for a clarification next week when he's back from SDCC. Or, if one of y'all is going and happen to talk to him, you could ask ;)
