Of these, I think I like the Kurita variant the least and the Davion one the most. The other two are okay. I guess I like the possible 8 damage at 14" with that pulse... I would definitely be placing pilots that increase the attack and defense in this though.
Got to like any mech with at least 4-damage and a range of 14-inches. Heat dials are very dangerous on the next to last slot. I would avoid these mechs if you have an agressive style and push, push, push.
Well, I was just adding up the noncard units... we have now seen 26 of the 81 (is that the right number?) units for Annihilation. More than 25% :squareeye hey, I can do math. :speechles
How many of you are excited by this expansion? It seems the unit reviewers must be. Nothing with less than 4 stars :speechles
I wish that there was a rubric for rating so we wouldn't have everything kick so much booty. But that has been hashed in another thread.
Since the Stalking Spider is a clan mech, you'd think that Clan Nova Cat or another Clan would have gotten it instead of all I.S. factions. Whatever.....
I really don't know why the Republic is getting another stalking spider, oh well this one has a 14 in range and pulses for 8 that beats out our last spider with only a 12 inch range for 6 points of damage.
From what we have seen of Annihilation, there hasn't been a true dog in the bunch! Kudos to Kelly and the gang for bringing more game balance!
The Stalking Spiders themselves all look good. These will be sniper units for sure! Jump one into hindering (getting the hull-down bonus) and blast away at everything in a 28" diameter circle.
Even though I am not a Davion/SS player, I'm glad to see them get a great unit like the :^: Stalking Spider, they have been passed over for most of the mech lovin'.
Is it just me, or have we seen a lot of units in a very short period of time?

Actually, it only pulses for 6. The Republic one has a printed damage of 3, plus pulse. So, same energy damage as Audrey, but one less ballistic damage (2 for the non, 3 for Audrey). The non-unique has a 14" range to Audrey's 12" range, and a 21 defense to Audrey's 20, however it also has a 9 starting attack to Audrey's 10, one more click of salvage, and none of Audrey's late dial IT. Oh, and Audrey's heat dial kicks in the TSM sooner.
Personally, I'm thinking at some point after Annihilation comes out, I'll make a fun army featuring Raptis in Audrey, and Earl Crowhurst in the non-unique Stalking Spider, and fill in the remaining points with infantry. It won't be a tournament-winning army, most likely, but it seems like it would be a fun one to play. Use Urban and Mountain Ranges as the PCs to take advantage of the jump jets, and it could be a fun game ;)
(Fun, I said, not competitive. Sheesh, some people ;) ).
Yes, finally a use for the plethora of Raptis cards out there. The best pilot available for the spider (the dukes extra defence is nice but no move bonus and just too pricey).
Lots of options for a viable piece for us rots players. Raptis and evade for a 26 defence camper, Raptis and PPC capacitor for that extra punch, Raptis and enhaced imaging for a slightly cheaper camper.
These might even be good with no gear and cheap pilot as a relatively cheap mech in a combined arms build; especially in a faction pride or situational alliance build.
