What are the odds of pulling a Thor with a matching pilot in Vanguard Sealed?
Assume that there's even distribution of the CJF Star Commander Pilot as the Frihet pilot (this doesn't seem to be the case; the CJF pilot appears to be a lot more common, but we'll pretend for purposes of this analysis). Also assume that no Thor will be matched up with an incorret weight class 'Mech.
Trev, if I may call you that, I have noticed that around here the thing ihas never failed to have correct pilot and gear. I've managed to pull 4 of the 5 that are around here and I haven't even bought a case worth of bosters. This is much like my (un)luck pulling Miss Direction,. I hope you receive a real answer soon.
Not Kotch but I will take a stab at it. He can either confirm or correct. Assumptions:
1. even distribution of non unique mechs
2. even distribution of the heavy pilots.
The odds of pulling the generic pilot is 1:2. Odds of pulling the CJF pilot with the CJF thor is 1:4 of the remaining mechs. So roughly 5 out of every 8 thors should have a correct pilot.
The odds of pulling a thor is roughly 48-8U-2SR-1UR=37 nons divided among 5 mech designs. So it is exactly 1*37/5. Which I believe is 7.4:1
Multiply them you should get 5 out of 59.2 boosters having a thor with a correct pilot. A little better than 1 in 12.

13% for a Thor isnt that a tad high ? and 8 % at pilot+mech
i think the distribution will off more.
8 uniques in a case, 2 super rares 1 ur arnt the thors just rare ?
Well ican play the statistics in any case I will just pull and prey.
We had our Vanguard Call to Arms about 2 weeks ago and the one player got 3 Thors from 3 boosters, and they all had a Morningstar with each one. He got the Wolf Hunters, Clan Jade Falcon, and Clan Wolf Thor! What are the odds of that?
I can't remember him getting a CJF pilot though. I did get one with my Rasalhauge Dominion Thor.
well the WH was the rarer here, one player decided to buy booster at our store (he had already purchased 10 at his local) just 1 and he pulled his 2nd CW Thor, now im trading it with my own WarCollege kit (need to find a player again to earn me a new headmaster)
chances of pulling the thor you are looking for is hard. majority here has been RD and CNC Thors.
from the 12 boosters i baught i somehow pulled 5 uniques (and had to trade yen lo wang to get me a WH Thor) i pulled no Thor only Anubis, osirises and avalances next to , breath of fire, sparky, seka pride, yen lo wang, preacher,
wonder if its true that with WS there wont be 2 uniques in a booster, chances are 1 out of 3 boosters having a unique (15 out of 24 basicly 5 out of 8 getting a unique figure if you count LE/UR aswell)
So it rather save to assume that the chances of getting a decent heavy mech (thor) with a matching pilot is almost as big as pulling the CW thor? (that should always have its own pilot)
Just out of curiousity, is there a worse set for sealed?
yeah AOD, if you pull a unique chances are slim you get its corresponding pilot or vice versa, and not even sorted on weight either (could pull a light mech with medium gear and a heavy pilot)

That's true, my old man pulled Anima with no Kev Rosse in a big Sealed tournament some time ago.
...of course, it came with Celina Santos, so he wasn't upset. :)
