I love Sneaky Grook, he's not the worst but not the best. The most useless: Tinker Geeley.
Sneaky, is made for sneak attack, he has it 2 more times than the better thieves, and has an above average attack, plus he's got range, beserk and battlefury at the end help his kamikaze levels. His lows are is that he has a low attack and low damage until he gets higher in the levels, and that he doesn't gain stealth until level 4.
Overral a fun figure but not good unless you want to play sneak attack the whole game.
Problem with sneak attacking with Grook is, you STILL only get 2 points of damage until he gets to level 4. Seems like a long time to wait for not much.
Tinker Geely at least gets Venom in addition to his 2 damage, which can do some hurt with 10 range.
Now, if you'd said Kimble Garn, there might be an argument - but I really don't see much redeeming value in Grook. If I wanted to sneak attack, I'd take a real thief with better damage and probably cheaper, too.
sneaky grook is atleast cooler looking in my opinion than tinker greely. he is somewhat expensive for what little he does and much prefer the chaotic grimm when playing a lone character.
orcs should not be expensive in any way shape or form in my opinion. they dont even use the coinage system for commerce, they use slaves and weapons.putting such a high point cost on a weak figure is problematic in that no one will use it and on the other hand if you still win the game with him you may boast about it endlessly.so the cons can outway the pros.
Tinker Geeley takes care of Tormented Souls (which make rather interesting Mage Spawn by the way).
"Oh, I missed you? You died anyway."
Tinker Geeley takes care of pesky *Skeletons.
"Oops, I missed. You lose WM anyway."
And because of this, it's the most useless hero just because it has a low attack? That's the beauty of Venom in Dungeons... Tinker's attack doesn't matter.
Yes, one damage can do good but not that good. It may be able to take some of the glass-jawed warriors of the dungeon but put it this way, he can't do jack to anything that has solid stats, and even worse with heroes. Basically he's going to miss almost all of his attacks to average or higher mage spawn and he's only going to do 1 damage. I don't like him because he has a horrible defense, everything is going to hit him, nothing can stop it, he won't have even a small chance against any creature, with a decent roll a hunter can harm him, and once again he will be wrecked by any hero. His range does level the field some, but his defense and lackluster attack is his down doing.
Almost everything you listed as detracting from Tinker Geeley applies at least as much, if not more so, to Sneaky Grook.
Yes, one damage can do good but not that good.
That's IF he misses. If he hits, he will do 3 damage at any level. Sneaky Grook has to get up to level 4 AND make a successful Sneak Attack to do more that 2 damage.
he can't do jack to anything that has solid stats, and even worse with heroes.
And Sneaky Grook can at any time before it hits level 4? It has to backstab AND hit just to do two damage.
Basically he's going to miss almost all of his attacks to average or higher mage spawn and he's only going to do 1 damage.
And if Sneaky Grook can't get off a Sneak Attack at levels 1-3, he's only going to do 1 damage if he hits, and none if he misses.
I don't like him because he has a horrible defense
Here's how their defense stats match up:
TG: 15 15 15 15 14 14 13 13 12 11 X X
SG: 16 15 15 15 14 14 13 12 11 10 X X
Yes, Tinker has one less defense at level 5, but he has GREATER defense than Sneaky Grook on the last 3 clicks of the dial. Yet you condemn Tinker Geeley to having a "horrible defense" while liking Sneaky Grook?
he won't have even a small chance against any creature
And Sneaky Grook, with his whopping one damage (which he actually has to make his attack roll to inflict) at levels 1-3 will?
with a decent roll a hunter can harm him
There is only a single click on which Sneaky Grook will be harder to hit with an attack than Tinker Geeley.
And if I'm close enough, my Tinker gets a guaranteed one-click, possible three-click counterattack against that ranged attack. Whereas Sneaky Grook just has to sit there and like it.
Balduvian is right about Tinker Geeley! I use him to soften my opponents Hero's and Mage Spawn and then finish up with my other Hero's. HE IS GREAT AGAINST DODGE AND INVULNIRALBILITY!!!
No I never said I liked Sneaky Grook that much, I just love him ( how he looks ). You could stop reverting all his stats to Sneaky's because I was comparing it to the whole of the Dungeon's Heroes, if your going to compare a hero, you have to compare it to the whole area. I personally find Sneaky to have more use. Basically I was going for Sneaky just for his sneak attack purposes, and that is if you can get in the back arc.
because I was comparing it to the whole of the Dungeon's Heroes, if your going to compare a hero, you have to compare it to the whole area.
So you say Sneaky Grook isn't the most useless hero, Tinker Geeley is... then when I try to prove Tinker Geeley is more useful than Sneaky Grook, you say "but you have to compare it to all the heroes."
OK, I'll do that.
I compare Sneaky Grook to all other heroes and believe it's the least useful.
I compare Tinker Geeley to all other heroes and believe it's more useful than at least one other hero. Therefore, it's not the least useful.
Ugh, I compared Sneaky to the rest and judged Tinker to the rest. To me he fails compared to Sneaky, to you he prevails. Obviously, you certaintly think your opinion is right, as do I to mine, so lets keep it at that.
Hey any hero who can willfully enter a dungeon wearing a red thong and have a ferret in his back pack has more gutz than any vampiric-sword goody two shoes.
