the strategy for this army is pretty simple. Advanve the sniper formation, attacking whatever comes in range. A 10 attack is pretty good and if any defense is 2 high for a 10 attack, take a group shot with the whole formation with a 14 attack which is enough to hit anything. The specter is the main harraser while the centaur champion is used to take down things. So tell me what you think about this army
Firstly it's great that someone calls a EL army deadly. Don't misunderstand me, I play EL since I started the MK thing, but i only think, that there is no "deadly" EL army.
Now my suggestions:
Drop the EDM, 31 points for a support figure in a 200-point-game is too expensive.
The Faith Healer will stand alone if you CC is not nearby (and in a 200 you will use him as main attacker and not as bodyguard) and will be killed by a fast flanker.
The Snipers are cool and with 12'' they are great range units, but their defense is too low.
You are missing a good healer and the def of your Snipers should be higher - conclusion: EGM !
Drop the Specter and put a EGM in your army, let her move in formation with the Snipers and you have 10/14 attack, 12'' range and 19 defense.
I like Troll Leader's idea, but if you dont want to spend the points on EGM(or just dont have her, here is an alternate suggestion that I think will work just as well.
Drop the Spectre, it doesnt really have a place in this army, and I have a better use for it's points anyway. Also drop the Leech Medic; we're putting in a different healer. That frees up 30 points total. Also replace the Elven-demi with a ***Mending Priestess; she provides both healing and defend. Now with those 34 points, put in either another ***sniper and an imp, or a **troll artillerist for some 3-damage power. Which you use depends on if you want another stealth fig, or a fig that can deal 3 damage rather than 2.
Thanks for the advice but I have none of those figures. Anyway I like the EDM because he gives ME, MB, and defend of 16(which is only slightly better) Hopefully if I use the terrain right, that i realyy shouldn't have to worry that much about their low defense. I've played this a few times and it is undefeated becuase all but 2 of my figs have either a 12 inch range or movemeent, which is pretty good. I did come across a striker and it gave me a world of trouble but because of a mistake by my opponent which i capitalized on, I won. I know that its not the best but with the right tactics it cand be "deadly"
Sometimes I think people don't read about the army posted...they just look at the figs and tell what they would change. I wouldn't change too much in the army. I think it is very deadly if used with the proper strategy/tactics.
Troll Leader says a 31 point support fig is too many for 200 points, so he suggests using a 68 support fig instead. Doesn't make sense to me. You don't want to have almost 130 points of your army piled into two figs. I would leave the Elven Demi if you want, however I could also see the snipers acting individually (they are snipers, right? :D ). Don't worry about their defense because they will be behind hindering terrain and they have stealth (back to the whole sniper thing). The specter can be a good harasser if you are comfortable with him. I have never used mine as harassers, but they can be a real pain.
As for a healer, my preference in this army would be a Centaur Medic. Faster than a Mending Priestess or a Leech Medic, can charge and heal, break away easily if attacked...and all for 20-25 points.
Bottom Line: This army can be successful as is, or could be tweaked slightly if you decide.
Thanks smilinbob I'm glad that you see my point and I agree with your statement too. I never considered the centaur medic. I think i will use him. thanks.
I was thinking the same thing. Telling someone a 31 point support figure is too much, and suggesting they add a 68 point support figure instead, doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Besides, Snipers really need ME. They only have two damage on their first click.
