Well...Minions is here and I remember reading something about how the aquatic ability on the Xandressans will change the game considerably.
Has anyone come up with a use for, lets say, a formation of X. Sailors?
We have aquatic figs that can travel in formation for a decent cost. They can stand in deep water. But they dont have LI, so they can be shot without any problems. They dont have great range. Instead they have sweep. But nobody comes into the water. Ahm...well, can anyone come up with a decent strategy or what they were referring to?
How CAN you make use of the new aquatic figs?
They have taken the Matriach's place of the favored shot putt. Using a handfull of these useless peices o crapola you can hurl them at your hated opponent. If you cant roll high enough to hit your enemy just pick up some Xandressans and give them a good ol chuck at his head. Aquatic or not i bet you will get a reaction. :)
Make a swarm of xandressa pirate, with an aquatic piece just in front of your army. First and second turn, move everyone to the water. 3° turn, turn off all aquatics, and say to your enemy: 'I LOST!'
Actually, this is the second fastest way to lose a game. The first one, is the "Mass podo-moralized combo", were you lose the game in the first turn, due to "all warrior demoralized", and so on... just make an army of vollunters.
they just created another sepukku-metagame, isnt that revolutionary, broken, etc?
Only idea i have is to use a lot of X soldiers, some captains, and some Sub Golems, a naturally a bunch of deep Water terrain, and try to drown your opponent.
Use the Captains to take entire formations down a notch until they can be captured, and the Sub golems in formations to lay a smackdown on bigger figures and uniques. Whenever you get an opposing figure down to a really low defense, capture it with a sailor, and depending on how many sailors you have left and how many points you need to win, either take it back to your starting area as fast as you can or head over to the deep water [which should be near the fighting], and drown it.
Here's the army:
300 points
Terrain: 2 peices of deep water, placed as near to the middle of the battlefield as possible
Actually, I think a little while ago, somebody came up with a competitive use for Aquatic figures (by capturing and flinging, etc.) by using the Iron Lung. Now with 9 movement aqua figs the army is even faster, whuppee.
Also, my group is planning on using them alot in our campaign that we are working on. Ship battles....yummmmm

You mean the standard cap and drown? Yeah, as I recall there was an army posted entitled "Nautical Underwater Tactics : Specialized Atlantean Capture Squad".............
A formation of 5 Sailors are advancing towards the army, but must stop in the deep water for this turn. Some lucky guy with a FlameThrower shoots the group, removing their ability to swim, and they drown.
I too remember their propaganda about the new amazing dynamics of the Xandrassans. A few of the nos are playable in sealed booster but thats about it. The Boarder is moderatly playable in constructed.
the xandressan nons are about the worst figures in minions, along with the submersible golems. the boarder though, is one of the better minions uniques.
Couldnt someone who kno3ws about the standard cap and drown create a new version, with the Xandressan figs?
The ***Sailor has an attack of 9, perhaps a bit too low.
But in conjunction with a ***Captain, the enemies could be weakened first...something like that.
