The best adviceI can give you pal, is to remve the figures from the gatehose if they don't fit nd be sure that it i cler to all players that they are within until that statement i invalid.
"A warrior may only be placed on top of a castle section or planking if there is room for its entire base to fi t on top of the section without obstruction or hanging over the edge of the section or planking. A warrior may not be placed so that any portion of its base is inside of a castle section, unless the special rules for that type of section permit it." -- Castle Rules
The inside areas of a castle are not playable according to the castle rules.

You need to dig a bit deeper and look at the Unless section. Under gate house special rules it states:
Gatehouse
The gatehouse has two portals, represented by a portcullis and double doors. The gatehouse has no access points. Any warrior on top of the gatehouse is considered to be in contact with any other warrior on top of the same gatehouse. Warriors may be placed in the open archway of the gatehouse. The portals of the gatehouse may not be closed if they would overlap a figure’s base once closed. The gatehouse has access points with the walls on either side.
So, you can not place figures inside the gatehouse when the portals are closed. Once the portals are opened the archway is open and you can move figures within the gatehouse.
They can only be placed in the archway (Dando2's rules quote), not inside (my rules quote). The doors may not be closed while standing in the doorway. A figure blocks the door even if demoralized.
I assume that this is some tournament thing, right? I mean, when we play, we can have anybody that we want inside the castle sections...it makes it more interesting that way....if the castle falls on you, you are going to take d6 damage, really cool! I think they did this rule so that you would not have to be picking up the castle all the time to take clicks from Magic Blast...
I would even say that the doors of the castle pieces disappear like figure bases when they are opening and closing...so you can actually have people manning the doors! Yahoo!
So there....rules shmules, as long as I am having fun!
A rules question was asked. If you asked how you would do this for fun play, then I would say make up your own rule on how to deal with the situation described above.
I often play by my own rules. I make up scenarios and special rules (I demoed dungeons and created a dungeons like scenario using old newsprint and markers with my own rules for treasure). Have fun with your own house rules, but if you want an answer to howto in the rules section, then I will quote the rules first.
