Let's hope that WK releases the new rules VERY soon because I'm afraid that the "old style" game is going to come to a standstill as off now.
What's the point of still trying to come up with v1.0 armies, they'll soon be useless.
Anyone noticed there's hardly a post made in Releases the last month ? It will get worse in anticipation of v2.0.
But even the stat's and dial configuration of the demo figures. With these two things to use as reference, the creation of 2.0 armies would create an explosion on the realms! According to many who have played the demo there will be a lot more variation in army construction than before. If so, I'd love to start cooking up some ideas. I know you would to Borg.
Just came up with a concern - sounds minor, but it is actually a major concern...
The new uniques have larger bases than the current figures - will they still be able to wander the halls of a 3D dungeon? How about a paper dungeon? Just a concern for the future.. if it turns out that they do not fit properly - that could be a problem.
If the reports of v1 and v2 tournaments are true then there is not really too much of a reason for a large reduction in army configeration, etc.
As for set up of the new dial, etc... there is a link to a photo of the dial explanation that can with the promo fig.
As for the new edition.. While not over the moon, I am intirgued and am actually starting to look foward to the new edition. Sure we may end up with some figures we dont use anymore (whats the change?) but I would rather have the move now then 5 expansions down the line.
Especially if WK releases them officially. I know that they've been running Demo games at Gen Con, so, as of about Monday or Tuesday, we'll have most of the rules pieces together on here. However, there will probably be all kinds of errors. If WK does release them, though... People will be happier.
Or at least complaining about the rules, and not about the lack thereof. :D

I have been informed that they are hardly bigger at all (apx 1mm wider) which is just enough to cover up the objective token completly.

That's exactly my point.
WK tells us all our old figs will be usable under the new Rules
so we could as well warm up and get used to the new Rules using our old figs and come November start using the new figs and Items/Relics/Cards.
This just seems a very logical step to me
because let's be serious, who reads yesterday's papers ?
Tournament wise I think (and kinda hope) that they will hold strictly MK1 and MK2 events. This will mean that we can all still play with the old armies which we love (and loathe) using the old real system and also play with the new figures in the new rule structure (without the old figures being slightly outbalanced).
I think everyone is free to play the games he wants Gavin.
If you like to play MK1 casual games with friends, no problem
but I sure hope Tournaments will be STANDARD 300pts MK2 games.
There's absolutely no reason to release new rules and then play old rules in tournaments.
I meant rule system not real system in my last past.
I only mentioned the two styles of play as Wizkids have mentioned operating a system like WoTC run with Magic, with the two different tournament styles.
if the rules comes out early... we'll playtest it and learn it here and apply things immediately in tournaments as borg have said "no point in hanging with the old".
Whoa, from the new posts it sounds like things r gonna get very different. Just look around Borg and I think you'll find a lot of the new rules are going to make some of the less used figures, VERY powerful.
I have to disagree with you Borg. I believe there will be plenty of people who will prefer to play under the old rules. This could be very true if the old figs turn out to be less viable than they seem at this point. At least at the Cons there should be the option of playing under the old rules. If few people sign up to play them, then it would be fair to make all games standard v2.
I am pretty sure that the new rules make many old figures VERY good. For instance, every Push spawn has now become very viable do to the Surge and Doublt-time SAs. Now every push spawn can Surge and attack right after they get their good stats (i.e. Werebears can surge right into their very ubber 13 attack and 4 damage).
Another good example is that every Zombie and Skeleton has just taken a BIG power boost since games are won by controlling the battlefield, and not kills. You can end up killing the same Zombie a dozen times, and it won't matter. NS gets a HUGE advantage by this, and it forces you to try and kill their Necromancers early.
Static range also gets an advantage since they can just sit on the objective and protect it from opposing figures. Basic melee can now actually make base contact with Big Bound, and figures with solid dials will become much more desireable then those "one click wonders."
Obviously some units will become less powerful. I believe that the Big Bound figures will take a hit since they specialize in killing, not holding an objective, and big point figures may be neglected in favor of more figures. It is quite possible that Quantity will override Quality in the new 2.0 armies, but that just gives the game more of a war-like feel.
