Food and Grog is coming up locally, and since I really don't want either of the prizes, I decided to run a purely fun army using 1.0 units. Take a look and tell me what you think:
Formation 1
Seething Knight T x2 62 pts
Gibbering Ghoul T x2 48 pts
Bone Golem T 36 pts
Loners
Order of Uhlrik U 86 pts
Rancid Bloodsucker S x2 66 pts
Domains: Open Terrain, Mountain Pass
I decided to take advantage of the +1 defense to all figures in base contact with a building rule, as well as the large ammount of blocking terrain. In this army theres a lot of Battle Armor and Flight, allowing me to gain the full benefit against ranged attacks, and jump around the buildings, surprising my foes.
My high defense vs. ranged forces my foes to come to me. My Gibbering Ghouls then Surge into the foe, hopefully damaging them as well as healing themselves to their starting click thanks to Vampirism. Then, my Seething Knights base the weakened foe, allowing them to keep their initial click of 11 attack and 4 damage. If an opponent is particularly nasty, I Surge with the Bone Golem before sending in the Knights.
Order of Uhlrik takes on the big boys, Surging over buildings, hopefully remaining in base contact with them to take full advantage of his Battle Armor, to make up for his low speed to deliver a smashing 4 click hit, pushing on the following turn to deliver another four clicks. With his high attack rating, hitting the enemy shouldn't be a problem. This attack and push will leave him at his first Vampirism click, still capable of doing 3 damage, and leaving him with Command intact.
Rancid Bloodsuckers back up whoever needs it, using their high speed rating and Flight to move across the map to where the action is thickest or to where undefended support figures lie.
Weaknesses: Soaring figures present a problem, but they're not very popular at my venue, so i'm not too worried.
This is a set senerio, so why are you using domains. I know that at the venue I play at, we only use relics because the terrain is all ready set. But anyways, I like the Idea of playing 1.0 figs. There are a lot of worthy figs capable of rasing cane on the 2.0 figs. Not to mention the always harrasing spawn that 2.0 doesn't have.
well, using domains in campaign scenarios is a pretty debtated topic. I dont think anyone is sure on the final ruling. just go with what your venue says, I suppose.
otherwise, I really like the look to the army. I believe OoU is extremely under-estimated and a potent force in 2.0, sneak attack or not. I hope you do well! :D
My lack of Revenant was really bothering me when I thought about this in school today, so I decided to replace the *** Bone Golem with a * Nightwitch. I'll be Necromancing everything I lose, since things should die on his turn rather than mine. The 4 Extra points go into Upgrading the * Imp to a ***, leaving me at 299. So the final army looks something like this:
Formation 1
Gibbering Ghoul T x2 48 pts
Seething Knight T x2 62 pts
Loners
Order of Uhlrik 88 pts
Rancid Bloodsucker T x2 66 pts
Nightwitch W 32 pts
Imp T 8 pts
