I was messing around with my Magna Champions, when a stroke of creatiity hit me and I came up with the following 300pt army:
*Magna Champion
**Magna Champion
High Preistess Kess w/
Scroll of Storms and
Encylocopedia of Skulls
-auraheal
-disbeleive
**Guild Enhancer
The strategy is to use the magna champions to team up on enemy figures whether in the air or on the ground. High Preistess Kess stays ner them, casting auraheal to heal them while they are fighting. Guild enhancer uses hex to ensure that my magna champions arent hurt to much, and that my enemies dont put to much hurt on them.
I almost played my Draconum duet yesterday...here it is...
Chroma
w - Magestone Shield
& - Potion of Dueling
& - Cloak of Shadows
Throne Monk
w - Paragon's Shield
& - Potion of Dueling
& - Magestone Bracers
Both have Charge and Sweep and Counterattack and really tough defenses...if one don't get you...the other will...some really good rolls can kill you and you lack Healing but its just so much fun to play dress up with Draconums...lol...
You know you can't Hex your Auraheal roll right?...and I think your forgeting that your opponent will go straight for Kess...I hope it works well for you but those 2 dracs can only do so much...I see alot of stuff that could kill you...now that I look at it...you would be in real trouble against my army...you only have an 11 attack at best from the dracs and Kess...kess only has an 8 against Chroma...that's 10's, 11's, and 12's to hit...this tag team would take out your army fairly easy...sorry if it seems like I'm bashing your army but I'm just showing you its weaknesses...try my duet...the L.O.D. tag team will be fun at worst and completely dominant at best...and I'm guessing you like dracs too...especially Throne Monk...
Up close Kess has an 8 attack, but don't forget that she's a Storm Druid that starts off w/ a damage value of 4. Whe you use Nature's Fury, you'll have a 66% chance of boosting Kess's attack value (up to an 11 I think) regardless if she's attacking up close or at a distance. If she happens to be making a ranged combat attack and hits the Fury roll, that would boost her ranged attack value to a whopping 14 and that's before any modifiers are added.
I like the Draconum theme (there my favorite faction), but including two Magna Champions in a 300 pt army will up about half of your points. And even though they can do some serious hurt up close, but with an average speed value of 8 they might have difficulty with faster enemies or range based ones. If you're partial to Elemental Freehold's I'd recommend swapping out one of the Magna Champions for an EF Horned Stag. It starts off with an impressive 10 speed with ram, pathfinder, and Ghostform (which will protect it from ranged attacks). And since the Stag has the :hspeed: speed type, it can double-time for up to 20". For a rider, I would go with a Dragon Priest*** since he has a rider bonus of 4 as well as magic healing. This cavalry combo works as a ranged threat, a beatstick, and a potential healer all in one (this could give Kess some relief from healer duty).. And if both rider and mount happen to take some damage, Kess's Auraheal would be able to heal both of them at the same time. This particular cavalry unit would cost 87 pts so you might have to do some point adjustments/ substitutions to make it all fit within the build total. If you're more into the Draconum beatstick theme, you could go a few points cheaper and put a Scalesworm Honorguard* on the Stag instead of the Priest, but I like the Priest's utility.
I'm disturbed Mortis...all that talk about the EF's like your a big fan...your DHC...be a drac booster...not an EF booster...lol...you didn't even comment on my Legion of Doom tag team...I do agree though...a cavlry unit would be better...the dracs are great but sometimes that great wing speed type can slow you down with no double-time option...it can take too long to get across the battlefield...especially not being able to push without taking damage like a cavlry unit can...put Pike or an Honorguard on the EF Stag...always play as many dracs as you can...lol...
Heres an idea:
**River charger on
*Cloud Griffion
**Magna Champion
Kess w/ Teachings of The True Way
-Auraheal
-Rain of thorns
-Battle Dance
=394
darn, 6 pts left over. anyway, Problems I can forsee are that the cavalry unit doesnt have a high enough attack. maybe i should use the **Dragon Preist instead.(dont have the stag or the ***one) Kess can now mke the Griffion, Rider, and Draconum attack all at once with battle dance. She can also be more aggressive with rain of thorns. Maybe I should make a 400 pt version with the 2 magna champions and more support for them.
If you can...upgrade to a ***River Charger...he is wicked...12 attack with Smite to do 4 damage to all figures in base contact with the target...downgrade the Magna Champion to a *Magna Champion...then put Cloak of Shadows on Kess...that will up her speed and give her Pathfinder/Stealth...you can play hindering and maybe Wylden Forest?...Cloud Griffon and Magma Champion ignore hindering...this could be big...play Grasslands with lots of hindering in your other game...lots of hindering in all games...try to get a Horned Stag EF...it is probably the best pound for pound mount...25 points cheaper than EF Sky Dragon...it has Ram and Pathfinder and WM later on...free d-t and shake off just makes it more and more worth the 47 points...and it breaks on anything but a 1...
