Also, the 4 mast example has 3 'L' pennent like peices, yet the PDF only shows 1. where do the other 2 go?
I was wondering this same thing myself. I noticed each flag has a different marking... Perhaps you use a different flag depending on the make up of your team or something like that?
Maybe it's just because I have huge hands, but the whole time I was putting Revenge together I was afraid I would break her. Maybe they're more durable than they seem and after a while I'll get used to it, but I think I'm gonna end up breaking a few ships... :(
You know, it's funny that they just posted this because I was trying to put her together earlier and having a heck of a time trying to figure it out. Turns out I had it all backwards.
I've assembled and disassembled the Revenge at least 5 times since getting it yesterday. Once you know the basics it goes together very quickly (and comes apart even faster). I was even able to place all the pieces back into the styrene cards.
I do wonder about the life of the ships though when they are repeatedly put together or taken apart for play or transport. Does anyone know if you "lose" masts as part of the play? If that's the case the plastic will wear and the masts will lose a firm fit in the ship base.
In any case the Revenge is a beauty. Not sure how much customizing will be possible? Painting is out I think as the plastic is very glossy and not likely to hold a good layer? Not only that, the ship detail is really, really small and would be hard to modify (not like a Mech from MWDA for instance).

From what I understand after talking to the games manager at my local venue ships can/will lose masts as they take damage. Since there are rudders on the ships I also assume it can be destroyed.

It can be accomplished with a coat of a spray primer, much as you would paint metal or basic, unpainted plastic figures. Hope this helps.

Yup, that will work for the pieces that are flat and stay flat, but the hull bends. How well does primer adhere to flexible surfaces that move back and forth under use? I would guess that a light sanding to rough up the glossy surface would help, but the paint may still peel when you bend the cards?
I'll have to try this out once the set is out and I have some extras to work with.
Thanks for the information.
Oh, and Scurvy. Thanks for that info on the game play and mast loss as part of the game.
Acrylic paint can be used for flexible pieces. Nothing is going to work where the pieces s****e against each other during building, play, etc. In those areas the paint will s****e away - count on it. You might try permanent markers (Sharpie, etc) instead of paints.
Good luck and share some pictures of the finished (or not finished!) ships with us!

Boy, the censorship software has gone amuck! Maybe I should use the word scratch instead of scr@pe...

Darnit!!! My Revenge is already starting to break!!! There's a tiny crack beginning to form in the larger piece that comprises most of the ship's deck. The crack runs from the end of one slot to the edge of the piece. I can't imagine she'll hold up to too many more assemblies. And I've only put her together and taken her apart about three or four times. That's really disappointing. :(
I donno how durable these things will be. Having to bend 2 peices seems to me that it might put a lot of stress in the other parts.
You would think that, but the stryene is a perfect thickness to bend without breaking, but also flexible enough to put the right amount of pressure on the other pieces. The ships tend to be very tight and can even be dropped off a table (or thrown) and they hold together. The most I've managed to break loose is a flag or a streamer.

They are called streamers. You only need one per ship. Think of the streamers as a way to identify your fleet. So if we both brought the same ship, you would use one streamer and I could use another. Streamers can also be used to show if you've explored an island.
