Anyone have any good suggestions on a 40 point ideal pirate fleet. I'm not so concerned as to weather I have the cards needed just yet as I do a lot of trading/buying so I'm sure I can get what i don't already have relatively easily. I'm really just looking for soem guidance and suggestions.
Thanks
Matt
1. 10 points allocated for foul winds/mermaids/becalmed is a good thing.
2. 1 masted ships are great but their big draw back is getting foul winded into a sargasso sea. I would be careful with them.
3. Use fast, cheap ships with big cargo. 6-10 points with 4+ cargo and L+S movement or higher.
4. Sac Captains are better than Myngs/Cat type crew.
5. Don't forget your forts
6. Explorers, Helmsmen, Oarsmen are a must.
Just a few guidelines. Some of the better players here can give you more details and rip these apart. I am in a rush and trying to be vague since you just asked for suggestions.
What is a SAC Captain? I have never seen one of these?
A Sac captain is a piece like Blackheart or Havana Black who have both the Captain ability and the ability to SACrifice a crew to get an extra action once per turn.
As a side note, I would like to point something out to those just into the game. don't be to concerned that the Pirate sac captains are rare. The French counterpart (Arathiel) is a common from crimson coast and not difficult to pick up. In fact, a 40 point fleet of mixed French/Pirate ships should be pretty easy to put together without relying on heavily on rares.
