Clan Ninja Beaver, fresh off its victory against the head honchos at WizKids, is taking the Team Sealed format on the road yet again, this time to face a MechWarrior contingent from the great (cough) state of California!
The California team will be led by Elf/MechThran (2006 MW US National Champion, 2006 MW Worlds Competitor) and grimlock57 (2006 MW Worlds Competitor) as they come to Medford, Oregon, on February the 25th to face myself and cjlin576 in the first ever state vs. state Team Sealed competition!
The format:
Each 4-player team will purchase nine (9) Wolf Strike Boosters and pool the contents. Teams then open their boosters, checking unit dials for accuracy, and then place all units into a common pool for their team. From this pool, each player will build one 600-pt. army. This will be the army used for each round of the tournament.
A Round-Robin format will be used, wherein each member of Clan Ninja Beaver will play each member of Team California once. Wins, losses, and VCs will be recorded, and the team with the best record at the end of the day will be declared winner and will win some swag yet to be named.
Live in Oregon/Southwest Washington and want to join in on the fun? There will be two qualifying tournaments to join Clan Ninja Beaver. The first will be at Ancient Wonders in Tualatin, OR on February 3 (click here for event details). It will be a standard 600-pt. Sealed tournament, with the winner receiving the Domination Officer’s Club kit, with ‘Mech and pilot signed by Kelly Bonilla, as well as the honor of joining CNB on the field of battle against the forces of California. The second qualifying tournament will be held at a venue in Southern Oregon near Medford; details forthcoming.
So get ready for some intense regional competition the likes of which the MechWarrior community has never seen! Clan Ninja Beaver is ready – are you?
Aaaaah! If only I had the time off to spare this Feb. I have played against Mechthran in Sacto a few times.......(It wasn't pretty so don't ask) and my wife is from Oregon. I would be a great bystander to cheer on California.
If I get some type of Paid Time Off miracle I'll give it a shot as a Mechwarrior cheerleader.........(hmmmmmm, I could even squeeze my 6'3" 300lbs frame/gut into a dress with Pom Poms!!!!).......ug, I just got a visual and threw up in my mouth a little!:speechles
I wish the Mechwarrior communities closer to me were this active! Alabama has a good bit going on, but neighboring states - Mississippi, Tennessee, and Georgia - seem slow right now.
Of course, if you are reading this message and hail from one of those states, bring it on! :)
mhh wel i wish i was closer to Germany or the States.....
Elite,
It's a 5 hr drive for both the Portland, OR and Bay Area/Sacramento, CA folks to meet at Medford. Could you not also setup a challenge in a neutral location in Europe w/ a comparable drive? For example, a UK/Netherlands match could happen in Brussels.
notice how we're forced to drive into enemy territory. perhaps the location should be the mean between oregon and california... what about the san diegans who wish to compete they have to drive 12 hours to medford... it should be and equal drive for them so we should have it in... hmmm 8 hours from both san diego and portland...

MT,
You do realize that one of the venues we are looking at is right across the border in CA. Anyway, someone needs to be the home team. I think it's perfectly reasonable that the challenger be the visiting team. Unless of course, you think you need the advantage of being the home team.
We have found a venue! Rogue Games & Hobbies in Medford, OR. I've contacted the venue and local BM, and both are set to host the challenge. Look for an event listing soon.
And for those Oregon players still debating whether or not to come play in the CNB Qualifier event this Saturday, we've just received confirmation that JSaunders will in fact be coming down to check out the tournament. How often do you get a chance to interact with one of the game's head honchos? Be there!
Clan Ninja Beaver's contingent for Oregon vs. California is now complete!
DarkAssassin (as good a name for a CNB player as you'll ever find) won a ten-person Sealed tournament this Saturday to secure his spot on the team, as well as a bevy of prizes brought down by JSaunders for our Qualifier tournament.
So now, the Ninja Beavers bring to the table a team of:
And we travel to Medford on February 25 with one mission, and one mission only: to CRUSH the California scum!
Live in or near Southern OR and want to get in on the fun? Keep an eye on Rogue Hobbies' WizKids venue page for an event listing. There will be side events, and JSaunders will be in attendance to witness the carnage. So grab some robots, bring a friend, and let's have a good time.
