WK Related Questions
- How do I find a Tournament near me?
- How do I become a zombie master?
- Can I get “official” rules answers here?
First and foremost, this is a friendly forum. Many members here feel like it’s a community of friends, and even though there are arguments or complaints, we try to always be civil.
Second, there are MANY forums here. There are many different HorrorClix discussion topics, as well as other forums ranging from movie discussion to Who can beat up Whom. (yeah Jason will always beat Freddy :) )
Please look over the various different forums to not only see how diverse HRCRealms is, but also to try and post in the right place.
The number one newbie mistake is posting everything in the Horrorclix General Discussion, when certain topics probably belong elsewhere.
What are some of the first things a new user should do when they get here?
- First and foremost! Read This FAQ!
- When going to a new section, look over the threads stuck at the top of each forum (denoted as ‘Stickied’ threads.) These are important bits of info specific to that forum.
- If you have a question that you think might have already been answered, please use the Search feature at the top of the forum. Then if you don’t find the answer, feel free to start a new thread on the subject.
- Introduce yourself! Go to the forum ‘Another Realm’ and post a thread letting us know who you are, and allow our members to welcome you to the family.
What are the main forums I should be aware of?
Horrorclix General Discussion – Just what it sounds like, discuss everything HC related.
Rules & Questions forum – If you have a rules question, post it here. You’ll get a fast and informed answer. Or go here to look for threads that may already cover/answer your question.
Also come here to discuss rulings or look for updates about recent rulings.
News & Original Content Forums – This is where articles that are posted on the front page of the forum are located. Only Moderators can start threads here, but anyone can post to this forum. If you want to become a writer please PM me with thoughts and ideas.
Another Realm – The place for anything and everything NOT clix related. There are sub forums for TV & Movies, Games, and “x vs. y” discussions (very popular!) As well as open discussions on everything ranging from fast food girlfriends to “random comments.”
Neutral Ground – Also called the Trading forum. Makes trades and sales here, or look through other peoples’ trade threads. This is one of the most popular sections of the site, but its very important that you READ the trade forum RULES before posting there.
Combat Formation: Rate and Review- This is where you can go to discuss your current teams or teams you need help building. Every week we also select one of the teams in this forum for the Front page to reward those who take the hard work and time to make these teams.
Are any topics off limits?
Oh yeah. We do not allow discussions on Sex, Religion or Politics.
These are subjects that people feel very strongly about, or are easily offended by (or both) and tend to spiral out of control quickly. (Believe me, every time these come up, we see them go south faster than any other topic.)
We understand that some people want to discuss these topics, and we’re not trying to stifle anyone’s opinion. We are only trying to maintain a certain kind of forum and discussion here, and those topics don’t fit. However, there are many other great forums out there specifically intended for those topics, so if any of those are things you’re interested discussing, we encourage you to find one of those other forums to feed your passion.
What’s a Moderator?
Moderators are the volunteers that help run this forum. We’re regular posters and players like everyone else, but we also have the access to manage the site. This includes moving (or removing) threads, editing posts, and issuing warnings. Although we don’t like to have to do any of that too much, and prefer to just hang out and talk clix and waste time like everyone else.
Additionally, Moderators are available to help if you have a question or problem with the forum. Feel Free to PM a moderator with any question or concern.
Who are the current Forum Moderators? How do I contact them?
The list of current Mods is:
Jackassterson, Rock810, Krazy_kat, Dblizzard, kommododrac,
Feel free to PM any mod with a question. If anyone can’t answer it, they’ll forward it to someone who can.
PLEASE use the Report a Post link for any problems rather than PMing a Mod to report a problem post.
How can I become a Moderator? You guys must get paid a fortune!
Nobody becomes a Moderator by asking to be one. When we feel we need more help, we’ll invite people who are outstanding members of the community to join and help us.
And no, unfortunately we don’t get paid a dime (or a clix) for being Moderators. The Mods here volunteer their own time and efforts to help make this forum as great as possible. Please keep that in mind when responding to a Moderator, they don’t get any compensation, and they certainly have to put up with a lot of undeserving #### from some people.
What’s your affiliation with WizKids? C’mon, they must slide you something under the table!
Don’t we wish!
HRCRealms is 100% unaffiliated with WK. None of the Moderators work for WK or get any money from them at all.
Much to our dismay, WK doesn’t slide us anything under the table either.
Like it says above, the people who help run this forum volunteer their own time and efforts for free because they believe in the game, and they believe that HRCR really is the best place for clix fans to gather, and we all want to do what we can to keep everything running smoothly.
Seriously, I heard from Jeff’s brother that there is some secret HRCR / WizKids connection. Spill!
The group of Realmworx forums (of which HRCR is just 1 of many) is fully owned by Typhon. His business partner used to be Draddog, who used to work for WK on Mechwarrior. Neither of those is true anymore, so there’s no direct WK connection at all.
This is a completely unaffiliated site and WK does not control, or have any influence over the Forum.
Beyond that, for all intents and purposes, HRCR is run by the team of Moderators. Typhon is active in keeping the site running and installing cool upgrades, but he takes a mostly hands-off approach on the community aspect and the forum is ultimately run by the Moderators - who care the most about our game and our community.
Does HRCR have any relationship with WizKids?
HRCR does have a great working relationship with WK. They recognize that HRCR has a huge member base, and we recognize that they make the game we’re all here to discuss. Therefore we try to work together; that means HRCR will occasionally get special advanced news features. It also means we scratch their back, and they scratch ours - so issues with WK that come up here may be addressed in a way that best maintains our mutual friendship with WizKids.
In addition, WK employees often peruse our forums to get player’s feelings, and sometimes offer up answers or explanations to issues that come up.
That guy was such a JERK! What should I do about a rude post?
Use the “Report a Post” link! This lets the Moderators know about an offending post.
The “Report” link is the “!” (Exclamation point) icon in the upper right corner of every post.
Anyone can report a post. If you see something blatantly offensive, please report it, and don’t assume someone else has. Also don’t assume a Moderator will obviously see something you think is blatant. Even the Mods don’t read every single thread here!
Also, please don’t take it upon yourself to “teach that person a lesson” by responding to a rude post in kind. All that does is start a flame war, and then the Moderators may end up having to warn you too.
What are warnings? How does someone get banned?
Posts that break the forum rules may incur a Warning. Warnings come with warning points (anything from 0 – 25), depending on the severity (and frequency) of the offense.
Sometimes a warning may just be a note that something was inappropriate and won’t have any points. Other times a warning will assign Warning Points. Most warnings are only 3 – 7 points.
Members are banned from the forum after accumulating 25 warning points!!
Members are welcome to respond to any warning they’ve received, but please check that a warning has assigned points before getting up in arms. (The number of “how dare you!” replies we get to Zero-Point warnings is astounding.)
Do Warning Points Go Away?
Most warning points will fall off after 3 - 6 months. However, some more severe warnings (such as “Repeat Offense”) are permanent points. Also, even after the points go away, the warning itself stays, so Moderators can see a member’s warning history.
What kind of thing gets warning points?
This is very subjective. We try to be as fair and impartial as possible. So the tone, intent, history and context of a post (and the person) are all taken into consideration. We don’t give out warning points lightly.
Also, just because someone reports a post doesn’t mean it will automatically get warning points. We may instead PM the person and just discuss the issue.
However, we absolutely read and look into EVERY reported post we get.
I don’t want to get banned! What would get a 25 point warning!?
An instant ban (25 point warning) is something rare and extreme. The most common instances are duplicate, malicious accounts. Someone who creates a second account to affect their own trades, or who wants to be obnoxious but cowardly hides behind an anonymous second screen name.
We have ways of checking for duplicate accounts, and when we find them, both accounts are banned.
Other instances are outright threats, or trading scammers.
And occasionally a screen name is created just to post advertising (spam) links – like: ‘Free DVD player! Click here!’
Those accounts are obviously not for people who want to discuss clix, and are banned on sight.
(Usually our keen members are so quick to report these kinds of posts that they only get 8 – 10 views before they’re pulled and banned. The spammers completely waste their time signing up for a new account and don’t get seen by even a dozen people before they’re booted.)
Hey! Where did my thread go?
Sometimes when a thread gets posted in the wrong forum the Moderators will move it to the appropriate location.
To find any thread you’ve posted to, search your own recent posts and you can find the thread in the new location.
But my thread is really gone! Where did it go, and why?!
In some cases, posts or entire threads may be removed because of content. (Off limits topics, threads that have spiraled out of control, duplicates, etc.) In those cases, the Moderators have removed part or all of a thread. Although, sometimes we will just Close and Lock a thread instead of removing it.
When new game info gets posted on WK site it generates many many “Look so-and-so is up!” threads. We’ll keep the first one or the one with the most responses and pull the rest so they don’t overrun the forum.
Other times a thread may have just been moved to a different forum (or even just bumped off the first page, and not been moved at all.) Please search your own recent posts to find your thread before panicking that it’s been pulled. If it is gone, and you don’t know why, PM any moderator and ask. (Although most times you know when a thread is out of control, and it’s no surprise it was pulled.)
DO NOT repost a thread that has been removed. If it’s been pulled (or even just moved) there is nothing more obnoxious than reposting something that a Moderator has pulled. It was pulled for a reason, so another thread that’s exactly the same is going to get pulled, exactly the same. And the second time it will probably incur warning points.
Also, don't post a thread asking "Where did my thread go!" For starters, that's just annoying. Besides that, it's an inefficient way to communicate with the Mods. PM a mod and ask if you're really concerned and actually don't know why your thread was removed.
How dare you censor me! I know my first amendment rights!
Apparently you don’t.
The first amendment (United States – “Freedom of Speech”) only applies to government censorship. This is a privately owned and operated forum, and you agreed to follow the forum rules when you signed up.
We never try to censor anyone and want our members to feel free to hold any discussion they like. Still, some subjects are off limits, and threatening, abusive, or just plain obnoxious posts aren’t tolerated.
If you’re still worried about having your first amendment rights trampled, read up on the rights and limitations and then come back and argue your point. Wikipedia entry – 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
(We also promise not to infringe on your 3rd amendment rights either.)
Using HRCRealms
How do I get a custom Avatar?
How do I get a custom user Title?
HRCRealms is a free forum for anyone to use. But we do accept donations to help with server and bandwidth costs and other incidentals.
By making a donation, you become a “Subscriber” Member. There are different Subscriber levels, depending on how much you’d like to donate.
The minimum donation of $10 will allow you to use a custom avatar (75x75 pixels) and user title.
Higher subscriber levels offer additional features like bigger PM mailboxes and the highest level – Platinum – gives you all the benefits plus more.
Subscriptions last for 1 year.
Note – Being a subscriber does not get you any special treatment. Subscribers still must follow the rules and are just as eligible to be warned or banned as anyone else.
The Subscriber sign up link can be found in your User CP, on the left hand menu, near the bottom under Miscellaneous -> Paid Subscriptions
GEEZ that banner ad is annoying! Why are you advertising competing games!?
Since HRCR is free to use, but not free to run, Realmworx sells ad space to pay for servers and everything else. Any company can pay for ad space and they often want to advertise on competitor’s game forums to convert players.
If you don’t want to see the ads – donating to the forum (see above) gets rid of ALL the ads, banners, everything. And its as little as $10 for a year.
What’s the deal with people’s Signatures?
Signatures (‘Sigs’) are your own little footnote. Use it to make a statement about yourself, advertise your venue, link to a trade thread, or anything else that floats your boat.
You can add or edit your signature in the UserCP, first link on the left.
Do NOT post abusive or insulting content, or inappropriate links in your Sig.
It will be changed, and you will incur warning points.
What is a ‘PM’?
PM = Private Message. It’s like an inter-forum e-mail box. You can send Private Messages to other members, to ask questions, follow up on a conversation, or reply to a trade thread.
Why don’t my PM’s work?
You have to choose to turn on the option for PM. Make sure its on in your User Control Panel.
Also, if you have a lot of PM’s your message box could be full. Delete old messages (including Sent messages) to free up space.
What is ‘Rep’? And why is everyone so eager to increase theirs?
‘Rep’ is a peer supported element of the forum that allows you to quickly and easily show another member that you like or appreciate their post.
Members who make a lot of posts that other people appreciate will end up with more Rep, and this in turn gives their Rep more ‘weight’ when they Rep people back.
Even though some people use it as some kind of status symbol or popularity contest, the truth is that it has zero intrinsic value other than being an internet equivalent of a high-five.
Hey! That (bleep) negative repped me! WTF?
Get over it.
Users with Diamond Donor stats have the ability to negative Rep people. Like regular rep it has no intrinsic value whatsoever. It is ultimately meaningless and is only as ‘insulting’ as you allow it to be.
However, users cannot abuse Negative Rep to stalk or harass people just like they aren’t allowed to do that via PM or Posts. If someone is harassing you via Rep (neg or pos), let a Moderator know and we will work to resolve the issue.
Any players here from “wherever”?
Please do not post “location” threads. Such as: ‘Any players here from BFE Indiana?’ or ‘I’m going to Florida, any places to play in Pensicola?’
This is an inefficient and inconsiderate way to find people, and we’d prefer you use other means.
There are a number of ways to find players in your area;
Search WK Events for local tournaments.
Go to your local comic/gaming shops and ask them about players.
Call 800-comicbook to find stores near you.
Besides that, threads like these just clutter up the board. Imagine if everyone posted a thread asking about players in their area… we’d end up with 600 threads for every small suburb and every other thread would get buried.
Can anyone make trades in the Trade Forum?
Yes, anyone can post a trade thread, or make an offer to someone else’s trade or sale thread.
However, PLEASE READ the trade forum RULES before posting to the trade thread. For the security of the traders, and so the forum runs smoothly, we have strict trading rules.
Can I post my ebay auctions in the trade forum?
No! If you want to sell or auction your clix somewhere else, be our guest. But our trade & sale forum is for HCRealms related trades ONLY.
That’s lame! Why not?
HRCRealms and the trade forum are a community. We foster that community by trading and selling amongst ourselves.
Beyond that, the HRCRealms Trade Forum runs under special rules so that trading here is fun and safe. We can’t monitor transactions that take place on other sites, and we shouldn’t have to.
Finally, if we opened the forum to advertising posts we would get overrun by every single person on ebay trying to sell everything from rookie terror demons to The Fiend Uniques and posting new threads with ebay links in our forum. It would overwhelm all the legitimate trades and sales we support here.
What is the Trader Rating system?
In an effort to simplify and more accurately evaluate the honesty and quality of its trading community, HRCR has implemented a Trader Rating system. After a successful (or unfortunately not so successful) trade, sale or purchase with another HRCR member, each will leave 'feedback' for the other which can be accessed through the member's profile or clicking on the numerical value which represents their Trader Rating.
From there you just select +1 (for positive), 0 (almost never used as neutral) or -1 (for negative) and leave a little message summing up your trading experience.
The rating and all positive or negative trades are available for all members to view.
If you intend to trade (or buy/sell) here, you must also read the Trading Forum FAQ first! Thanks.
I have a lot more Trade questions.
Trading is serious business on HRCR, so there is a detailed FAQ in the Trade forum just for trading/selling.
You must read that FAQ before posting a trade thread or making any offers.
Other General HRCRealms Rules you should know:
- No trading / selling / buying of Custom clix allowed.
- No “regional” posts. (Such as ‘Any players from Spokane here?’) These threads end up cluttering the board.
- Do Not bump your thread. (That is – posting to it just to get it back to the top of a page.)
- Do not post the same thread multiple times. Say it once, if people want to read it, they will.

How do I find a Tournament near me?
Search WK web page under Events / Tournaments. You can search by zip code if you like.
How do I become a Zombie Master?
You have to sign up on the WK site. It involves finding a level 2 judge to sponsor you. Please direct all questions to WK.
Can I get “official” rules answers here?
Our members are very well versed in the rules, and you’ll generally always get the right answer in our Rules Forum. However, the official rules arbitrator only posts “officially” to the WK forum.
