I hope this is the right place to ask this :)
I am sitting my lvl 2 judge cert in about a month and I was wondering how much harder it is than the lvl 1. I know that you can't have the comp rules with you but even with out having the comp rules there the lvl 1 was a cake walk.
Any info would be really helpfull
Cheers
there is one. you can take it at pcq and pc and touries like that. I have spoken to the UDE rep for australia and I will be taking it at my home town pcq at the end of september
Just study as many cards as you can, and make sure you understand all the stages, steps, and phases occur and what can happen in them.
I'm not going to say it is easy though, because it isn't.
There is a lot to know, there is a lot that can be confusing, and a lot which doesn't occur that often (but you should still know about).
The majourity of people who have taken it have failed, so that should be known right off the bat.
However, if you study everything a lot you should be fine.
UDE has given out a lot of good resources to learn from at UDE.com.
Eat, drink, and be merry for I look forward to welcoming another Level 2 judge to the ranks.
Thanks McAster. I have been reading the FAQ's for both Marvel and DC every night and have read the comp rules more times than I care to mention. I judge a bit but not as much as I would like which is why I am a bit nervous about the test.
be sure to BRING your cards, your aloud to look at you own cards and set things up and stuff like that. It helps at time to see it played out instead of on paper
I did not know that!
That is really helpfull as I am one of those people that figures things out better if I have it laid out in front of me, a friend of mine is a collector and is playing in the pcq so I may have to borrow his collection while taking the test
I hate where I live. It's 2-4 hours away from any place where I can take my level 2 judgeship
Anyways, ya just read the comprehensive rules 3-4 times over to make sure you know those steps. Then just think of all the questions that have come up during your time playing and reevaluate how you came to your conclusion.
I suspect you will find some questions like
Opponent A has a stunned Barbara Gorden • Oracle on his side of the field. During his recovery phase, he recovers Barbara Gorden • Oracle and uses her ability to draw a card. Is this situation legal.

[] True
[] False

It may not seem too bad when it's just one question but when you get 10 to 12 of them when half of the situations are correct and half are wrong, you are going to start questioning yourself :)
I noticed that with the lvl 1 cert, there were a few questions that were very similar but worded slightly differently. I just have to make sure that I remember to read all of the question before answering it
The level 2 tests will be officially available for the first time at Gen Con next week.
As for preparation, I would highly recommend reading the rules forum here and hope in and try to answer peoples questions. We have a lot of questions asked and many knowledgeable people who can help you out of you get something wrong.
I'm not sure of you TCG experience, but here are some areas you will need to make sure you know.
Those are probably four of the more difficult topics to fully understand.
Also, when you read the Card FAQ, you should not try to memorize how cards specifically work with other cards, you will just get overwhelmed. Instead try to use the Card FAQ as examples to understand the underlying rules.
It is one thing to know how a card works, it is much better to learn why a card works the way it does. If you can grasp the why, then you can apply the rules to any card, even if you have never seen it before.
man, that test sounds hard, I passed the level 1 test before i ever played the game, but the lvl 2 is prolly alot harder. too bad my local store doesn't get their pcq till aug.20...of 2005
I just got 90 on my TO test
I wish they tell you what you got wrong.
On a good note though, when you take the Level 2+ tests, they go through which ones you got wrong and why. It's alot better than the online ones in that aspect.
