Just outta curiousity, what do you guys think will happen to the older cards in a few years? Cards like savage beatdown are scarce to find lately cause of all the hype about them but what happens after another 3-4 sets come out? I doubt they'll be another power up as powerful as beatdown's +5 ATK but will this card only show up in Marvel Origins? Or do you people think that Upper Deck will do something similar to MTG where certain cards are reprinted i.e. 8th edition core set etc. In my point of view certain cards from certain sets will end up seeing reprinting because Upper Deck won't be able to keep up cranking out ALL the sets similtaneously and will have to retire some of the earlier sets (making cards such as Feral Rage and Savage beatdown even more valuable) but what happens when they start reprinting...? Should we really be trying so hard to get extra copies of savage beatdowns?
I don't think savage beatdown is "that good" because there is so many pumps right now, and some decks dont even need to play pumps.
However, maybe some other cards might become broken later, like longshot, boris, alfred or stuff like that when new sets are released. If a new combo is found and has success in large tournaments, these cards might become hot for some time, then people start playing something else. the metagame is evolving so fast right now, it's hard to say because the game is still new.
The only way I can see Longshot being broken is either if they introduce 'army'-style plot twists that break the normal deck creation rules, or if they make a 1-drop army card that has a power to either ready a 1-drop character or replicate its effect. Beyond that, I can't see too huge a problem there. Boris basically cannot be as broken as Alfred, IMO, since you'll nearly always need an extra step to get him back into play. Either one only gets broken if there is made a way to have a single card generate the recursion they need and generate some manner of extra effect as well...
But yeah, I figure that sorta like the real estate market in Silicon Valley, right now, cards like Savage Beatdown are still so expensive since nobody wants to lose the moeny they'd spent on them, and there are some people still willing to shell out for them. Within 6 months, SB will be cheaper, though Feral Rage might persist at its current level for some time.
