So I built a Arkham Inmates deck, nothing fancy (I am a casula player so I don't have all the cards I need to make my decks own), but there was some things I really liked about it:
1. Charaxes turn 3 owns
2. Fear and confusion + crushing blow owns
3. Mr. Freeze owns
4. Professor Hugo Strange was the man!
Ok, well maybe that is an overstatement, but what happens is this (by turns):
1. I have no 1's, I almost played with harly quinn but opted for more plot twists.
2. Professor Hugo Strange comes down
3. Charaxes comes down, and by now I should have gotten at least 1 fear and confusin or no mans land. If I have initiative, the lose a character, if I don't, hopefully a acrobatic dodge can save me.
4. Man Bat comes down, not much strategy here, he just needs to be the last to attack to maximize damage.
5. Depending on initiative its either clay face or killer croc. If I have initiative its croc, if not, then clay face. He is actually pretty dang good on D, even though his stats are low. If you protect him, then he should be a 9/9 by the time he gets attacked, if not more.
6. Mr. Freeze comes down for some ownage.
7. Joker...bleh...he sucks(I think he is the worst 7 I have ever seen).
Ok, well the reason why I like it so much is this, I just played a game against doom, and I was able to keep Professor Hugo Strange alive, which meant that he couldn't ever recruit another doom if he had one down. Not only that, but I could either anhillate with mr freeze, or just kamakize him into dr doom so that doom couldn't ready the next turn and he couldn't recruit a new doom because of strange. Maybe it was just a fluke, but it worked great. Oh and more than once I used Hugo Strange's boost, and that was nice also. I wish I had alot of other cards so I could make it alot better, but eh, thats life. I think more people need to try them, it was fun!
Yeah, I tried out Arkham after I got a few more boosters and filled in some of the slots, and I agree that they are quite fun to play. It's funny, I had Hugo out the whole time in a Doom match and I completely forgot about his ability, allowing my opponent to recruit the bigger Dooms.
Once you get more cards, I'm sure you'll have fun trying other fillers... 4 with Poison Ivy, 2... ehh.. maybe Zsasz? Plus don't forget about Bane's ability for the free KO when attacking is uber goodness. I agree about Joker... I subbed him with Juggernaut and 8 with Etrigan (if it gets that far)
poisin ivy at 4 is nice, especially since she fits in the whole taking characters out of play business. I have bane in the deck as well (Since I would rather play bane boosted than joker). Bane's ability is good, but when you can just get mystical paralysised then it sucks. At least with freeze the have to be weary of a counter attack. I find that between crushing blow and arkham asylum + any other buffs I may have, I can take out anyone with charaxes. If I have penguin down the can normally forget about counter attacking because of re-readying no man's land.
Well your opponent who was doom must not have been very competent, as he should easily be able to run him into someone that will stun him. He would then choose not to recover him and the 6 drop's path will be cleared.
By the time I got to utilize hugo strange's power, the 6 doom was already out, thus he couldn't recruit the 8 doom or re-recruit a doom in order to play reign of terror, and seeing as he could never ready because of Mr. Freeze, there wasn't much he could do. He had already gone through 2 doom bots in the game and wasn't drawing any more for whatever reason.
1. Scarface (A early 2/1 that I don't care if you want to overload, and later he can help increase some attack)
2. Hugo Strange and puppet master(can't argue with them not being able to play characters with the same name. Crippled a rogue/wolvie lost city deck, and Puppet master is just more exhausting power.)
3. Charaxes & Penguin (4 Charaxes to take full advantage of exhausting. 2 Penguins to take advange of No mans Land and Arkham asylum. Exhausting an extra character for 2 endurace is nothing to laugh at)
4. Poison Ivy and man bat (Poison Ivy just holfds them down more, and Man bat is decent when he hits 2 stunned guys on the feild
5. Scarecrow, Killer Croc, and Clayface (the point of my deck is exhausting, so Clayface is normally at 11/11 or 13/13, Croc is just brutal, and I can't not put in scarecrow with the amount of Vomit around here)
6. Bane and Mr. Freeze (Freeze always drops at 6 if I have them both. becuase Bane is my 7 drop
Combine that with entangles (Gasp!) and Press the attacks and by turn 6, I can normally stop there whole team, bash them, KO/remove there team, and use Mr.Freeze to hold whoever is left there.
