My question is in all seriousness. I'm sure you've all seen Purple Man already. This guy is a beast! Combine him and Doom 4 drop, and you have a serious house on your hands. Let me supply a situation, and hopefully someone can clear this up.
Ok, turn 3, you drop Purple Man, they play whatever.
Turn 4, you play Doom, they play whatever.
Turn 5, you play destroyer, they play whatever. You have the intiative. You attack with Destroyer on their whatever. You flip over 2 Savage Beatdowns, making him a 19/8. Your opponent goes to snag his Overload from his resource row. *This is where Purple Man comes in* BAM! He can't play it, because you steal it as his hand moves for the card. And now, he's SOL.
Is this legal? I mean, can you wait until he's about to respond to see what he reaches for, and then steal the answer out from under his hand using Purple Man's ability?
I mean, I might be wrong about the chain and all, but it would seem like this is what Purple Man's ability is designed for.
Seems kind of like cheating to me, especially so in situations where people like to flip their cards over a bit too fast without allowing you to respond to things. This could seriously screw a lot of people over if they aren't 100% on their rules.
There is the opportunity for abuse, but if it is abused it's just as much the fault of Overload guy as it is Purple Man guy. Before you reach for a card, you need to make sure your opponent has passed priority to you. This is a good habit to get into in general, but especially for situations like this.
Lol, I honestly wasn't aware that there was a card called Purple Man in the game until I read your thread. Excellent.
Anyway
This does not work, as Purple Man steals face down resources. When a plot twist is played from the resource row, there is no point at which you have priority to target it between announcement, costs being paid and it being on the chain. By the time you could do anything the effect would be on the chain and the resource would be face up.
That said, you can have a bit of a laugh in general nicking opponents resources should you be playing a Doom mirror, where plot twists that can only be played at a particular time (cough Gamma Bomb, cough Acrobatic Dodge) have been flipped face down. If you are unfortunate enough to be in a position where you have a character in your resource row, you might as well go on stealing.
Additionally you can use the purple nurple to mess with the curve on decks that skimp on their drops by using tutors. Oops, I just put your 1 Apocalypse in the Resource row. Oh well.
Ok, so the prioirty is passed, and Purple Man's effect is too late.
So, what I meant by stealing from under their hand was before it's actually flipped. Like, they go to reach for a response and you say, "Hold up, before you flip that card, I'm stealing it", hence them giving away their response by moving their hand to the card and you declaring before they flip, to take that card and screw them. I didn't mean as an after effect like, they flip and you say, but it doesnt go off because I steal it before you flip it.
You know, even if you activate as he reaches for the card and you haven't officially passed priority, Purple Man's effect still uses the chain. Your opponent could very easily just flip the card over and make the target illegal thus negating the PM's effect.
If the opponent has priority, which he would when he goes to play his PT, you don't have priority to use Purple Man to steal the resource while it's face-down.
In fact, if you use Purple Man when you have priority, the opponent can then respond by flipping the PT or location and that will cause the effect to be negated.
Character, Doom, 3
4/4
Activate >>> KO a resource you control. Move target face-down resource an opponent controls to your resource row. That opponent puts the top card of his deck into his resource row.
No, I mean with the 4 drop Doom, duh! Think about it. They have to put stuff into their row to use it. Then you steal it from the row so they can't use it. The can't use a Savage Beatdown before the combat phase, can they? No. Perfect time to steal stuff, hence why it combos nicely with 4 drop Doom, and not the 6 Drop.
With the 6 drop, they just play it from hand anyways.
so...wait...if the facedown resource you target with purple man is a location or plot twist....can't they just flip it to prevent it from being a legal target for purple man, and thus effectively screwing his activation?
i mean, i understand that it might lessen the impact of the plottwist or whatever...but still it does lessen PurpM's usefullness.
