Hello, My name is Zeni and I am making this thread for those who have been touched by Batman(in a non-sexual manner). I have a thesis paper due on the cultural effects of Batman and how he changed/helped reader in thier lives. So if you could please post in this thread on how batman has changed your ways(if any). If I were to use any of the material posted in I shall gladly ask for permission from the person I quote. So please help me out with this and tell me how Batman has effected you.
I work at a comic shop, so we delve into weird topics when bored. Lately, Batman has been included into some of our phrases.
"Batman's a Scientist." From that point on, we sort of... combined many things.
"Frodo's a Hobbit."
"Bob Dole's a Politician"
"Batman's a Frodo."
"Frodo's a Sam."
"Alfred's a Scientist."
Almost completly devoid of anything rational, but for some reason... it stuck. And now that I think of it... my girlfriend and her family despise this saying.

Sounds like a cool project! Batman is my favorite superhero but I don't know that he's touched my life. Well, I am kind of jealous I guess.... billionaire, women dig him, martial arts master, etc.
What I appreciate the most about that character is his drive, his motivation. Not his incentive, but the dedication. I take a lot of that from him.
Another aspect I respect in him is the fact that he has NO actual powers, yet he is one of the most powerful/threatening members of the JLA. He who has earned Superman's and Wonder Woman's respect as well.
Even though he had the mother box at the time, any human being who'd confront and threaten Darkseid is the man.
Batman's the pinnical of what a human being can do should he set his mind to it. Granted, a terrible tragedy madeh im focus, but even without that, Batman provides a strong role model for the people that are sick of seeing people like Superman dominate the scene.
How many times has Batman saved Superman? Or how many times has Batman's thinking saved thw world?
I dunno. He's an insperation. I love him and will always believe he can beat anyone in the WORLD!!!
Batman is also the underdog in teh DC universe. No flight, no eye beams, not incessant implorable strength. Just his ability to think things through and figure it all out all the while fighting.
Thats what i like about DC, not everyeon is in a super powered limbo...but theycan still get the job done :)

[b]batman, or more precisely, his fans, annoy me.
he can be a great character, but when you have people proclaiming he can beat anybody regardless of power-level, i get annoyed very quickly.

I agree with you cyke. Now I am a huge Batman fan but I recognize that he stands no real chance against many of the overpowered characters in the DC universe. To say that he could take down the likes of Darkseid in a straight up fight is ridiculous. What makes Batman so cool though is the fact that he would stand up to these characters anyway and at least give them a run for their money.
Batman is the epitome of the "Bad-Ass Worship" mentality of our times.
He is a selfish, arrogant, ego-driven, sociopathic control freak, but people think he's cool because he wears black and treats his friends like human filth.
Batman doesn't give a damn about anything other than his own mental disorders. He isn't a hero, and he certainly isn't a role model or an inspiration.
