Does anyone think that the release of the Avengers and JLA will or has boost/boosted the amount of people playing the game?

yes. i would say one of the biggest reasons for this is that more people are familiar with them so they say "hey, they have my favorite superheroes from TV in a card game! looks like fun! *buy box*"

well i know the initial avengers was a bit of a disapointment, but in my area no i dont think it has, we havnet really seen anyone new,

hopefully JLA will get that kid who likes them from cartoon network into the store and buying it.

doesn't really matter who marquees the set. it's all about promotion, actually. spread the buzz, market the ever living shiite out of it.

When DGL came out, quite a number of players were added to my play area.

When MAV came out, more people joined.

Let's hope with the start of JLA, MORE people would join in the fun.
