So we have a shop whose owner, while knowledgable, has a load of hobby league stuff that he's kept without using. Freebie stuff from UDE that I feel should be given to the players in lieu of anything else. What can we do? EA or not I sure could use at least 4 of those Breaking Grounds that are just being wasted.
If you're a shopkeeper who treats customers and games this way then you should be booted out of business. End of.
I'm familliar with this, because the store I work at used to sell EAs. Well, they never actually SOLD that many, but they tried to. I pressured them into quitting it, and its cool because now our Hobby League can operate normally.
The shop owners can not keep, sell, or trade the EAs, but they can give them away later on. You should suggest to the owner (or get someone else to) that you will report him to UDE if he doesn't do something with them. I have some spares/left overs and will be giving them away as prizes at our end of year Christmas tournament.
I got the opposite problem, A hobby League store that wants to give out the EAs, but no one shows up. I wish he could sell me his cards, all those wasted good cards just collecting dust, and no one wanting to play VS. Yup, it's Vs is dead out here in the boonies.
my store owner is stingy, he has oodles of old boxes, that he never told us aout, when he told us he had an EA bat-signal (given out as a 2nd-4th 8 of them in this box) we said can we use them as prizes, well it was 6$ to enter, and th winner (4 of us) got the signal, the rest got particiapation ea's. The kit costs, he says, 20$, that means he's gonna make like 40$ off of it.
how do you sibscribe for getting hobby league stuff? one of my stores around here wants to start doing HL tourneys but doesnt know what to do. do you have to be a TO? or can you just contact UDE and get the stff from them?

Just for your information, the Hobby leagues is not "freebie" stuff. Retailer do have to pay for them.
No, retailers pay for them. However, they are not supposed to sell them; they're there to support the store's Hobby League program. Stew's linked thread discusses this a lot more clearly. If you know a store's selling HL stuff, talk to the owner first. That way, if they continue, it's easier to have UDE help rectify the situation.

So does this mean that you don't have to pay to play for the
cards?
