It has to be DC heroes cuse you know batman has something cooking to take them down. Plus he alone can take out Guy on his own. But yea. How many really powerfully laterns can there be. I would half to think the heroes still have more.
I'm guessing "Lanterns in their prime" would be, at the very least, pre-Guy getting the Yellow ring ... any later and it would be past prime. And even if the timing means that Guy or John are 'out', or Sinestro is 'out' ... none of them would be on the 'other hero' team, so that's fine.
Now, anyway, a few things that need to be taken into account:
Location ... if it's off earth there's going to be some issues, like Superman lacking yellow sunlight, and the natural advantage of the GLs in space or on a non-Earth environment.
Also, assuming that the villains don't get involved, and both sides aren't using innocent people to their advantage, etc ... so then it's just a straight up fight.
Now, it's going to end up strategically ...
The GLs need to give themselves an opportunity to rotate in and out of combat [if they don't have a way to do that, the other heroes just have to wait out the power rings running out ... in other words the Doomsday method of killing Superman ... don't let up until they are out of juice]
Since it's GL Corps in the prime, they still have to follow the rules ... so they can't effect Yellow and they need to recharge their batteries.
So the heroes will want to issolate the GLs from their batteries, and use the yellow weakness to their advantage. Martian Manhunter and other psychics would be key parts in the battle ... they can shut down a number of GLs by preventing them from using their rings.
Not sure how rings react to magic ... but at the very least, the magic users can use yellow 'magical constructs' to get a slight advantage. Heck, if the heroes get organized, Bruce Wayne and Ted Kord can use their businesses to mass produce some yellow costumes and armor for the heros to get a bit more of an advantage [again, it will depend on the ammount of time to prepare].
Alan Scott, not being a member of the GL Corps would likely be on the 'other heros' team, and he'd be pretty useful against the GLs as well.
I'd say, if the fight centered on Earth ... the non-GLs would win ... if it was in space, that would neutralize enough heroes and give the GLs enough of an advantage for them to take it.
If the GLs can get away to recharge, they can win ... if the heroes can cut off a GL and keep them busy long enough ... they'll be neutralized [just get the ring off them and lather, ringse, repeat]
Any more? Common, I see a lot of people viewing this thread. I bet there are more than one people looking and saying psshhh of course DC will win. Or maybe your thought is, no one can be the GL Corps. Lend us your thoughts and a big thankyou to WalterKovacs for your imput.
how about this fight is put on hold untill Dc jumps a year later, after the events of the green lantern recharge mini-series which will relaunch of the green lantern corps. with all 3600 systems manned with full fledged GL's able to over-come the yellow weakness easily.
then lets see how useful yellow is to batman.
and remember, batman may have knocked out guy with one punch, but hal did the same to bats.
the GL's have the most powerful weapon in the universe issued to all 3600 members. it is only limited by their imaginations, without some amazing plan or strategy, the non-GL's are dead.
In all seriousness, only a handful of the heroes in the universe would even make a match for a green lantern.
Okay more then a handful, but still if you take even some of the weaker GLs the ring is enough for them to atleast gang up on and take out a hero of substantial power.
if it was on earth, theres no way that they could totally suprise batman. i think this is where the tables turn, the more suprise the GLs have the better their chances.
so the one major thing that the heroes have over the GLs is preperation.
the odds favor the GLs due to the fact that they more synergised tricks and they can fly.
i ####ing hate how every discussions someone thinks batman is prepared for everything
i ####ing hate how batman is hyped more than he should be.
what happens if all 3600 GL's make a giant death star?
and this ####ing huge deathstar is located across the universe.
and it sends a ####ing huge beam of death that destroys anything it touches and it travles at the speed of thought, the speed of willpower, the speed of imaginationr.
In this situation Batman wouldnt have time to prepare. He might have a good plan for, at most, (and this is being very very generous) 5 GL's. Specifically - the ones who have been to Earth and he's had a chance to gather info on them. A mental chaff grenade like (ugh) Prometheus had. Something like that. It is an established fact that he has taken the time to plan for other heroes going crazy. But if anyone says he knows how to stop like Kilowog or Mogo - you're a ####ing tool. They're aliens. He'd have to dissect them to see how THEY make the ring work (safe to assume he'd figure out how the human brain does it). Batman's a smart guy, if he had time he could come up with something, but he wouldnt have that much time. It would take him decades.
People do give Batman far too credit though. I'd be much more worried about the super-types. Superman could probably break some green chains and stuff like that. I dont like Superman, but he'd be the one I'm worried about.
Ok so the fight - It has to happen on Earth. Anywhere else excludes more than half of the DC hero team. On Earth you can have the ground based heroes, but still have good "dogfights".
Oh and it has to be the GLC in their prime. When they still had the yellow weakness. The current GLC would lose. Badly. I dont care if there is 7,200 now. 6,990 or so are rookies who are untrained. and the 10 (or so) pro GL's wouldn't stand a chance. And the Guardians can't be involved. That's unfair. They stay on Oa eating popcorn.
Alan Scott would be neutral. He wouldn't help either team.
Now I think i got this from a Star Wars novel, but if the GL's kept rotating formation so that the rings with the strongest charges were always in front, it'd be tough to get at them. This way the weaker rings could get recharged during the fight.
But honestly, if it were on Earth - The GL's lose. They can even kill Batman first. Before he can prepare. It wont matter. It's the power of everyone else - Dr. Fate, Superman, Phantom Stranger - the DC heroes would be too strong.
On Earth - The "in the prime" GLC loses. Any other planet, or in space and this is a stupid idea anyway.
and cyke, you gotta calm the #### down man. Internet discussions are some of the most unimportant, useless things ever invented by man. This is all stupid and meaningless. Seriously, calm down. You dont like Batman (or Wolverine), that's fine. I don't like Cyclops. Batman's over rated? Cyclops is boring.
(I do agree that Batman is overrated though, as is Superman, I prefer it when heroes need to try to succeed, it's why Im into the 'Spidey : The Other' story)
Honestly though - my opinion doesn't matter. Neither does anyone else's in this thread. No one's going to agree here. Fiction is far too flexible to allow that.
Cyke - when you respond to this, dont do it all pissed off. I'll ignore you. I wont bother reading your whole post. You do it right and you might change my mind. Getting pissed off about stupid #### like this is such a waste of energy. If you think im wrong, show me where I was wrong.
lol, dude, i never mean anything i say, all for fun, what fun is trying to have an intelligent disscussion when it is about comic books. more fun to just talk about crazy ####. and i am not going to try to change your mind, why should i? everyone is entitled to there opinion. even if it wrong.
i actually like batman as a character, i just don't like when people and wirters make him out to be the greatest thing since breasts... exquisite breasts. and wolverine has his place too, but no one else knows what that is, so instead he is shoved into any book possible.and superman is good, but has not had a good story in a while. cyclops can be just as interesting as anyone esle.
there are no bad characters, only bad writers.. and bad fanboys.
and i still say that after Dc jumps to one year later, when they have a full-trained corp of green lanterns able to over-come the yellow weakness, nothing will be able to stop them.
