Remeber the chats with UDE designers/organizers that were featured on Realms last year?
I do.
I think it is high time we had another one.
I have no idea how we go about this, or who we want to talk to, but I figured a post was a good place to start.
Alot of people showed up for the first one, less for the second, and even less for the third. The problem is, all anyone wants to do is ask about spoilers for the next set for the most part and the designers can't answer those questions.
i think given En Kurs recent thread about what we would like changed in the Vs. environment (team events, regional championships, and the like) that there may be other things to discuss...also, planning one right after the release of a set might quell the questions about spoilers some, as at best, right after xmen came out, we knew the name of the next dc set, but thats about it....
We did one right after MMK, and right after DGL. Both times, 90% of the live questions received (Not necessarily asked) by the moderators were relating to the following set.
Many of the other questions related to organized play issues ("why does it take so long to get a check", "why aren't there PCQs in my town"), which of course, designers can't answer for the most part.
So, to do it right, you really need someone from design, organized play, and development.
So, we decided that interview articles serve the same purpose and are a lot easier to organize. Especially since the majority of people are going to skip the live chat and just read the transcript.
But aren't the interview articles somewhat less effective, in that they pose questions that are on the mind of one particular person, as opposed to questions posed by the community at large. Seems like there might be quite a few questions might be looked over in favour of what the person who's doing the interviewing wants to ask.
perhaps you can annouce an interview that is going to take place and have interested parties submit questions to be asked? I would be in favor of this as well...i would love to hear UDE's thoughts on the subjects in my above post...

That is exactly what we did, and the results came out as I mentioned. The pre-submitted questions were all fine, but the ones fielded live were all either the same as the pre-submitted ones, or the off-topic variety.
So, the best format would seem to be using reader submitted questions to do an article based interview.
The point is, there's really no value to having it be a live chat, it's more trouble than it's worth. The people answering the questions have more time to give thoughtful answers instead of trying to get it out as fast as possible.
