Ok -- A couple of new player questions, both dealing with the recovery phase.
First, if I have a morlock evasion deck + turn priority, can I recover and exhaust a character to use Mutant Massacre before my opponent can recover. My gut says no because there is no priority in that step, but I wanted to be sure.
Second question is along the same lines. The hill reads "Activate -> if you control 3 or more non-stunned morlock characters, draw a card. Use this power only during the recovery phase." Can I recover my evaded Morlocks and then exhaust the hill for the effect?
Evaded characters automatically recover at the BEGINNING of the recovery phase. This means that you can chain to the resolution of the with effects like the Hill.
Unfortunately, unless you have some way of readying them, they recover exhausted and can not be used for effects like Mutant Massacre.
Interesting... I've been playing recovery outside of the recovery stage incorrectly. We've been playing things like Children of the Atom (and similar card effects) to allow a character to recover and attack again. Obviously this can't happen if the character remains exhausted.
Yep, remember:
A stunned character is also exhausted. When you recover a character, it is not readied.
Also, keep in mind that at the beginning of the Recovery phase, all 'At the beginning of the recovery phase' go on the chain. Each step of the chain resolves, including passing on an empty chain. So there is an opportunity in the Recovery phase to play effects.
So in response to your second question, "Yes, you can use The Hill" because your evaded characters will recover (becoming un-stunned) and then you will have an opportunity to put the effect on the stack. That's why The Hill is worded the way it is, because the Morlock mechanics (namely Evasion) intends to have recovered characters in the Recovery step.
