it appears that sign-up as well as forums are now open. The PC and PSP will both go on sale Feb. 27, 2007, however the will be NO download from the site. As for when cards will be available for purchase online, that has yet to be determined.

So I’m confused...if the PC version isn’t going to be available for download, what’s going to be at the link in bold letters on the front page that says...”free PC download”?
Also, if cards aren’t immediately available for purchase, then, by definition, the game won’t be ready, right?
After reading through a few threads on their boards:
1) The game will consist of both a non-online (story-based) mode and an online mode. The cards for each are not interchangeable (i.e. cards for non-online can't be used for online matches and vice versa).
2) The game should be available at game stores and other merchandise outlets (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.). But that has been confirmed only in a general sort of way by the lead guy for the website.
3) Nothing has been stated about the "Free PC Download" link on the main page. Though my guess is that at some point you will be able to download the interface for online-only games for free and purchase cards for play.
4) As far as the cards being available right out of the box, if you purchase the game for PSP or PC it will come with the non-online game and will allow you to play with cards through that mode immediately.
Sign up and take a look through their boards, they seem to be posting more info on a daily basis there.
So umm who else is excited about buying "cards" online? So does anyone else know if purchasing cards online is the only way to get them in this game? If so that'd be really stupid.

True. It was a miserable failure for Wizards of the Coast after all.
dschneider: I have a feeling that at some point you'll be able to download a game client that lets you play the online portion of the game for free. It won't come with any cards, since they want you to buy them from the online store.
The actual game that comes out on Feb. 27 is the themed, single-player version that fatalsync got a copy of recently. Whether my guess is correct? Who knows?
