What would happen if you put Loyalty on an unaffiliated character? Would it be unrecruitable? Would you need an Unaffiliated character in play to satisfy it? Would there be no restriction on recruit at all? Would the rules just implode?

unrecrute able. you have to share an affiliation to recrute a character with loyalty. you have to have an affiliation to share it.

That card would essentially require you to have Crisis in play.

You can't dodge the loyalty with Forced Allegiances/Reign of Terra... correct?

You can't share an affiliation with the Loyalty card unless the Loyalty card has an affilation. The only way to satisfy Loyalty would be to somehow give an affiliation to the card in your hand.

If Deathstroke from DC Origins included character cards in his effect you would have actually found something that could have made him slightly less useless. Only slightly though.
