I remember that some Vs series got translated into Japanese in the past...
And as I will be going to Japan at the end of August and I was wandering if anybody knows anything about the situation of Vs in Japan.
I will be staying in Nagoya for at least nine months and because I just developed a new interest in Vs it would be nice to be able to continue playing there.
I was actually in Japan, in Kasugai near Nagoya, for 3 months in 2006 from September to December. The Vs scene that I could find was quite tiny, sadly.
I did a search on UDE's hobby league locator, but it was broken for most of my trip there. Finally, I found a couple results. Sadly, all Nagoya hobby leagues had been stopped. I did find Vs. cards at a shop, I can't remember exactly where, though - it was near an arcade between Nagoya and Kasugai. I'll check up on that. They had a hobby league on and off. Unfortunately, we got there in one of the 'off' times.
Good luck in Japan. If you do find anyone to play with there, let me know. I just found a place that was selling boxes for cheap - I bought half a box of JLA and a box of Crisis for about 50-70 dollars. Got a lot of my Shadowpact deck made real pretty.
I'd imagine, if you were going to find a Vs community, it would probably be in Tokyo. I didn't find any cards there, but I was not in Tokyo for very long.
Heh, Japan has infi collectable CCGs, all with a small following. Actually, the coolest (and sadly, most costly) CCG is a combination CCG/computer game where you place your deck's cards onto the screen and manipulate them... the end result is a soccer game where you can control the action by modifying formations et all. Of course, for that game you have to pay for your deck AND pay for play-time, but it's pretty cool anyway. It was fascinating just watching that game.
Most other games are based on animes of various types (or are anime-style artworked), but there are a ton of them.
Ah, yes. I know that kind of soccer game. We have them here, too, since the world championship.
Hopefully I will find some Vs. players in Nagoya. It might be a nice way to meet new people.
I just booked my flight yesterday. It`s all really exciting as I haven`t been to Japan (or Asia) at all before.
Now I have to see if I can reactivate some of the "old" Vs. players here to play a bit.
