Hey everybody! I haven't played VS in years and I stopped collecting after Legion of Superheroes. I have a MASSIVE collection of cards spanning from the first set (Origins) to Legion of Superheroes spanning over 1000 rares (approx. 400 foil and 600-700 non-foil), over 2000 non-rare foils, 100's of EA's and Promo cards, and probably 5000+ non-rare/non-foil cards. I guess what I wanted to know from the active players here is whether or not you all think this is something that people are actively seeking or not? Is this collection even worth selling or are the older sets worthless with the new ones coming out?

P.S. I know that with the new sets cards like Signal Flare are re-printed. Does this make the Origins Signal Flares (from MOR) playable in non-golden age events?

Yes, the cards that have been reprinted are playable. And I do think there are people who would be interested in older cards, personally.

While most of them may not be tournament legal or even worth playing, I'm sure there are still people looking for these older cards. I for one am looking for lots of older cards for my binder and golden age decks. Most of them probably won't be worth a lot though, unless they were reprinted.

The cards reprinted in DWF, MVL and DCL are all Modern Legal, but otherwise, the competitive player won't necessarily be as interested. The casual player would love them though. I literally just got 11+ long boxes of cards, and am organizing them currently. There are very few from MAV+.
My cousin would also love them.

Anything that got Reprinted Yes.

Anything from DCR will become mostly worthless in 6 months time when it rotates into golden. Sell before then!

Anything from heralds is played allot still.

Legion is pretty valueless and unlikely to get reprinted so thats your least valuable cards.

Anything rare in golden already that HASNT been reprinted I would sit on and wait until its reprinted when its value will jump. Next set is Mutants so you can expect some MXM /MSM to be reprinted maybe.

Anything DC is leaching value by the second sell sell!

I'd go with trading rather than selling, Zero. With the exception of notable reprints like Savage Beatdown and Mobilize, even the rares that have been reprinted most likely won't fetch the price you're probably hoping for. Those who are interested in cards from MXM and beforehand are looking for them for casual decks, since competitive events are pretty much Silver Age and forward, so expecting competitive prices just isn't realistic.

Or, ya know, you could keep 'em, make a bunch of decks, and use them to introduce new players in your area to the game. Just a thought. ;)

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm not looking to get much for it at all. $250 would make me happy. I just want at least $150 to make it worth shipping. Anyways with your input I've decided to put them up on everyone's favorite auction site, but if anyone has any special requests PM me an I guess I'll give sweet deals for video games, misc. stuff, or cheap cash. Anyways its probably going to take me a week to get them into a list alphabetically (I currently have a 16 page list and I'm not even half way through :knockedou ). Hopefully someone will want to rekindle their old VS love. Otherwise I'm sure there is a collector out there who can appreciate the foil sets and 100's and 100's of other foils.

Should be plenty of people that would want them. Not everyone strictly does Silver or Modern. Most of our events are Golden Age and are a blast to play. So many different decks!

All I am able to play is kitchen table, so 90% of what I play is golden. I am interested in any cards I don't have.

A lot of casual or hobby league players would be interested. I'm still trying to complete sets all the way back to Marvel Origins. I like collecting almost as much as I like playing.

First of all THANKS for the responses! I received numerous interest on this board and two others and many cash offers already (SWEET!) ranging from $200-350. So thank you all for letting me know I can get more for these than I thought. And to think that some poor guy could've caught these for a steal off ebay if I never would have made these topics. Anyways I am going to see if anyone will give me a reason NOT to hold a legit ebay auction (considering if someone gives me a good offer I'm putting them up as a BiN auction at their price), and if not they are going up for a bidding war.
