Not at all. Samson's a one-hit wonder, nasty as that one hit is. The A-bomb is much more consistent, and tougher all the way down the dial. Use his LC to keep terrain features between him and snipers, and prowl the edge of the battlefield looking for heavy objects to grab and puny humans to smash. He's one of those figures that's great for pinning down and crushing characters weaker than himself (the new Magog unique looks to be similar), but who won't fare as well if you just launch him into the middle of the brawl. Unless you're positive you can land a crippling first strike, be sneaky with him.

Use the LE and DARE your oppenant to hit him for 3 clix. My first time using him I was in HEAVEN. I based one of his characters(Corsair I think) with Emil, and waited. On his turn he took all his actions, leaving only one left. He outwitted my Invulnerability and had Archangel charge for 3 clix. Putting me on that 5 damage Sweet Spot. I laughed and he asked if he had put him on the sweet spot. I laughed some more, and he ended his turn.
Right off the bat I perplexed up my attack and smacked him with the soda machine I had snatched from under one his figures. By by archy
Man. This may have just inspired me to try and build a 300 pt tourney team around my new LE Emil as well. I love gamma guys. I'd build a team around the Leader if I could.
What would you recommend to build around Emil Blonsky? I'd prefer some sort of theme, too.
As everyone(almost)has said Emil is one bad mammajamma, but he does need some help.Generally you need to fly or TK him in-let him smack someone really hard and Leap away and await another opportunity.Had they made him more comparable to his contemporaries you wouldn't need the running part-personally I considering putting him on a Savage Hulk dial and bring the hurt on!!!!!!!
As anyone ever looked at using the Rookie version. He is 72 points and does 4 damage and has 16 defense with inv.
You can almost trick your opponent into thinking he will be your only big hitter but you can still fit another hitter on your team.
Maybe use an 89 point Vet Bron or 92 point V Fatality.
Fatality can TK him in and Fatality hits from range.
I have found the Rookie to be pretty durable for his 72 points. He can take a lickin and keep on tickin'! And he can dish it out too. There may be better , but for the price he can be very effective.
Abomination is far from being hopeless. He has 9 clicks, all of them with L/C, SS and some sort of damage reduction plus 3 clicks with a 4 damage. Add to this a good DV (17) and a slowly declining AV starting with a respectable 10. Abo is great for getting past some of your opponents lines and take out the Klaws and Bullseyes of the world. He can just move over to them and park there. They can't hurt him anyway due to his INV. Since the REV doesn't have Battle Fury he can be easily taxied in and out of the action, too. A nice way to start a mass panic on your opponents side of the map which might open up a few attack possibilities for your remaining figures.
Doc Samson is in a way much easier to use. First he has Perplex to help his teammates when he's not doing something himself and secondly he has that one click of Charge. Together with an object and a little TK he can get almost everywhere on an outdoor map to smack some poor fool for 4 to 8 Damage (base 4 + his 1 Perplex + 3 from Soda machine). His starting AV is the same as Abominations but it drops faster and especially his damage takes quite a dip if he gets hit.
To sum this up: on an indoor map the abundance of L/C on Abo might give you an edge, but otherwise Samson can usually do more Damage more quickly to your opponent, but has to return sooner to your medic.
