Recently traded a Dragonfly.
This relic gives you ranged attack, with a damage of the wielders close combat damage. But if the wielder has some abilities like these:
-Weapon Master
-Impale(I know this is a profiency, not an ability)
-Thunder Blow
-stg. else similar
I assume not, because all these require a close combat actions. Anyone have suggestions on how to use this relic with a good effect?
the words for range damage value only apply when you are making a range attack *g so close combat abilities like weapon master or thunder blow nor proficiencies like impale are affected.
a good wielder i remember quickly is the nx Centaur Champion. his arc is enlarged, so he can counter his missing free spin, and he gets a range with his printed damage value when making a range combat, so 4 on the first click.
so e.g. charge with him and try to stay in 6 inch range to another enemy fig to prevent the attacked figure to run away easy. two threats at same time to deal with.
Dragonfly gives the wielder a 360 degree front arc, which IMO would best benefit sweepers and horseshoe types.
As for wielders, Molog Bloodaxe can be a nice wielder; he has sweep and a nice 5 damage value. I haven't had the chance to use this relic yet so I can only assume.;)

quick update:
Crown of Khamsin gives you +1 ranged damage. Spirit armor increases the range from 6 to a little better 8. And if you put to an EL warrior, he/she receives another +1 to ranged damage as well.

Dragonfly's damage is dependent on the Damage value on the figure and not on the Range Damage Value. It also DOESN'T say UNMODIFIED Damage Value. :devious:
The resolution then is to ADD to the Damage value without having to do close combat actions.
The straightforward BASIC answer is to add a BRACERS of the Giant to modify your base damage by +1.
Now just get any 4 or 5 base damage figure and wield the Bracers of the Giant to get 5 and 6 respectively. You can also use Crown of Khamsin or Spirit Armor to pump it up another +1.

But wait....
There's more.
GET A GOLEM TYPE figure... and cast 3 copies of TECHNOMANTIC CONTROL on the Figure wielding the Dragonfly.
The effect is a Golem figure dealing its base damage +3 damage due to technomantic control when your golem figure shoots with the Dragonfly. Remember also that 3 copies of Technomantic Control adds +3 to any attack (range or close combat) and + 6 speed (but with rule of 3 it goes down to +3 speed instead )
One good Golem Figure comes to mind that has BOUND.
