Hey all, I’ve got a few questions about how Legion from X-men animated works - specifically his bystander.
His movement ability (Running, 6) has special rules
“Escapee #2: Chain
(Autonomous), (Flight). When this character hits with a close attack, after resolutions generate a Chain bystander.”
My problem is that while his base stats say he’s running and standard attack, the special says he’s flying and autonomous. He’s only got the one click being a bystander, so why didn’t they just make his stats reflect the flight and autonomous?
Is he only autonomous when moving, but attacks are still costed? When exactly is he not flight capable?
Or am I missing something? Is the placement actually important? Thanks for any insight you guys can give me!
At no point is he a bystander, the power let's him generate one. You can have multiple combat symbols at the same time, except for the damage/size symbol. So on that click, he is both flight and boot, and both autonomous and fist.
Actions given to autonomous characters are still costed, and still take action tokens, they just don't subtract from your action total.
Great, thanks. Didn’t think of the outwit. That makes sense.
I also didn’t realize they could have multiple - you just choose one to use I guess.
Legion isn’t ever a bystander true, but the one he generates has the exact same special power - that’s the one I meant. So if you get insanely lucky you could Chain infinitely I suppose (or at least as long as you can surround a target to hit it) as I don’t see a max limit number on his bystanders.
Just to clarify, you don't need to choose, you just receive the benefits of both. If an effect looks for you to have boot symbol, you have it, if it looks for wing symbol, you have it. Think of it as 'walking on air'!
