A couple of things. I went with Johnny Cash rather than Nine Inch Nails because Trent Reznor himself acknowledged that Cash owned the song with his version. I was going to go with the Roy Hamilton original even though I liked the Manhattans version more but Timi Yuro made it her song sort of the way Cash did Reznor's song. Maybe I'll do an Originals vs Covers down the line.

Christina Aguilera - love her voice - song was better than I expected.
New Order - one of the better wave bands, but this song misses out

Johnny Cash (like anyone was gonna beat this version. The impact is so much harder when you know the context - after his wife died, shortly before he did, a swan song for an amazing career that amounts to an empire of dirt at the end. It hurts every time.)
