I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Duuude, nine songs, and two of them over 15 minutes long. Good thing I didn't have plans for this evening.
1. Rainmakers - Very 80s, but I enjoyed the upbeat tempo and the lyrics were fun
2. Supertramp - Nice little piano ballad
3. Shira Kammen - pretty Celtic flavored piece. Glad it perked up for the last couple minutes though.
4. Unidentified Artist - One of those new-agey instrumentals that were quite popular a decade or two ago. Or at least in the style. Not really that bad though.
5. Esthesis - Okay there are some lyrics, but still a good chunk of this is instrumental too. This one stuck a bit closer to rock styling, but was still pretty much just okay.
6. Sina - They're loving their instrumentals with this title. This one's a bit more smooth jazz, but that's not my favorite style of jazz.
7. Chip Davis - I liked the other new-agey instrumental better
8. American Head Charge - Might have ranked higher if it didn't get all with the gutteral screamings
9. Mildlife - A little too much electronic to score any higher. Liked the flute solo at the end.
I’m not going to rate these by number value. It was a couple of good songs with a Majority of New Age songs. There were no stand out songs in the entire grouping. As for the New Age songs, there’s a time and place for that type of music
American head charge – So far the best - which is not saying much - of a mostly meh set. Also not a fan of screams, but I let it pass.
Rainmakers- this wasn’t bad. It definitely wasn’t great, but better than a lot of the others.
Supertramp - I’m normally not a big fan of this band, but this song was really OK.
Unidentified – I’ve never been a big fan of the repetitive themes of New Age music. this is no different.
Shira Kammen - more New Age stuff... luckily, this one was Celtic tinged and stood out above the others.
Midlife - This was not very good
Sina- even more New Age music... ugh. Too much with the brushes, she’s not the drummer for Tony Bennet.
Esthesis- New Age with some semblance of Rock... still didn’t make it good.
Chip Davis - boring new age dreck..
Well this match clearly displays some fundamental differences in musical taste between me and VG9.
1, The Rainmakers - This is the song that triggered this match. I just discovered it when it was played on the station I listen to out of Breese, Il. I was overseas when this was originally released and apparently this band was huge in Scandanavia. They're originally from Kansas City. Mo. That explains the references to Mark Twain and Harry S. Truman. When I sought it on You Tube and saw that Supertramp had a song with the same name it was a done deal.
2. Supertramp - This band would probably be in my second tier of favorite musical acts. Slightly below top tier like Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, King Crimson, 10CC, Yes, Robin Trower and Bob Dylan.
3. Esthesis - This is a French Prog Rock band. I definitely enjoyed it.
4. Mildlife - An Australian jazz fusion Band. I liked it.
5. Unidentified artist - Sounded like nice music to play while your reading or playing video games or otherwise preoccupied.
6. Shira Kammen
7. Sina - I liked the message about how todays listeners are thought to have a short attention span and how she chose to ignore that. She didn't set my world on fire though. Weird to see the video focus on her drumming all the way through when her drumming seemed lackluster.
8. American Head Charge - Soon as I hear that asinine vocal styling I'm done. Save that crap for exorcism movies.
9. Chip Davis - Agree about it being boring.
