Welcome back to the latest and greatest LPC thread. LPC stands for the Last Poster Challenge, a tradition that dates back to at least 2009. Yes, you can be the winner of this very thread, just by being the 1000th post. What do you win, you may ask? The honor and privilege of starting and naming the next LPC thread, with great power comes great responsibility. The LPC is a steel cage match of banter revolving around music, sports, weather, Heroclix and mom jokes. The only rule is no posts about politics or religion. It's really very simple. Anyone can do it.
With all that said, I would like to thank all past winners!
Better luck next time DestructoBoy
T-999 posts till I three-peat!
Wishing for competitive Judge Dredd figures for Modern Age...WizKids are you listening?!?!
Congrats to SlickyTricky for being the 1000th poster.
Congrats to DestructoBoy for being the last poster.
I seriously just laughed out loud when I saw Rick snipe that 1000.
DB, I am also a fan of Kate McKinnon.
Yeah, I finally felt okay enough to read again, and that drama at the end was well worth the read. Something satisfying about that.
As far as my occupation, I spoke of it before but I believe that was approximately 7 years ago, and as such I wouldn't expect anyone to remember that. I'm in the Army (still), and currently working as a recruiter, which you'd think would be an even bigger reason to not be around people when you have pink eye, but nope! They even sent me to a local high school, to which I felt embarrassed to be at.
Oh, and if you thought the answer to getting time away was two pink eyes, guess again because that's exactly what happened, and yet I still had to come in. I looked like I was high pretty much all day, and my co-workers kept commenting on how I should go home. Unfortunately, my boss apparently doesn't seem to know what it is, so I'm thinking I just go in this weekend and rub my eyes all over his desk. I'll (figuratively) burn this place to the ground!
Anybody here ever sold off their comic book collection? Or at least a big chunk of it? Or dealt with any good companies/individuals who do this stuff? Been pondering it a bit for the last 5 years, mainly because it is so overwhelmingly space consuming. Like 75 long boxes worth of stuff - from great silver and bronze age to current day titles I still read.
IN other news, nothing exciting happened, but it was a beautiful weekend for nothing exciting

Keep the old stuff and ditch the new stuff. You tried this years ago. No one is going to value your collection as it should if your collection is that large.

I sold mine is chuncks.
Sold all my Silver Age stuff pretty much individually and got a decent price for it. Shopped it around to some individuals and a few dealers I used to know. Was about 250 issues, got more for them than the 8500 issues from the bronze/modern age. I sold the MA stuff through Craig's List bulk for about <cough> $0.30 an issue. Two local guys came over and went through it, they spent an entire Saturday going through boxes and my spreadsheet. There were some things in there like Secret Wars 8 and some Jim Lee and McFarlane stuff but it was balanced out by Darkhawk, Sleepwalker and well the entire mid-90s stuff. Collection was about 95% Marvel.
Also I sold my Kirby Autographed X-Men 1 for a LOT. A comic store owner from SC drove 7 hours to examine it and paid cash, never seen so many $100 bills. It was for his personal collection, not to resell.
<Selling this still hurts even today> I paid $1100 for it on Valentine's day 1992.
I do not know how many longboxes it was but the 2 guys that bought my MA stuff made several trips in a Buick Skylark, it rode very, very low.
This would have been the summer of 2011, just before Kid2 was born.
One of our busses got in a fairly serious crash today, everyone was treated and released within a few hours after the crash, but plenty of cuts, sprains, a couple concussions, etc. When we heard it was hit and rolled, of course we figured it would be much worse. The dumbass that failed to stop properly? She is a parent of a couple of our students and had the unenviable task of coming to the school a few hours after the crash to pick up her kids. 2 of the students who were hurt the worst on the bus were children of our 2 Principals...so that'll be a wee bit awkward.
I looked through some of my Silver/Bronze Marvel stuff last night, and was pleasantly surprised at how much a few of them have gone up in value in the past 5 or 6 years since I last checked. Several of the Marvel Premiere (1st Adam Warlock, 1st Scott Lang Ant-Man, etc) have increased greatly, along with my 1st Black suit Spidey, 1st Venom, Luke Cage #1 and a few other cool old Marvel issues. I really need to just quit my dayjob and spend a couple years selling all my #### for close to what it is actually worth.

Man, even a Darkhawk #1 is worth something and I remember that being treated like trash. Same goes for 1st appearance of Deadpool and Omega Red.
