So today's question is to clarify whether or not special objects are excluded from check's against the collector's trait requirements.
I'm assuming they don't count because both trait's explicitly reference "characters" in their statements. They even mention in the WK rulings link below that bystanders don't count for or against it. My concern lies in the set symbol reference, like for example mandarin rings or ABPI gems...

Characters are not objects. Since Collector's ability specifically refers to characters, any other game elements on your force would not count for or against its criteria for triggering.
If his ability referred to "game elements", it would be different. He only cares about characters as worded though.
