I just found out about this and I am SO mad! So I'm going to vent a bit here.
*Spoiler warning*
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Marvel Comics just killed Kamala Khan. WHY?!
And the story wasn't even about her! None of her friends or supporting cast were there to react or say goodbye. Peter Parker did that instead.
And now Peter seems to be the focus of the upcoming one-off issue about Kamala's death. None of her friends or supporting cast are even on the cover of that one-off!! Unless you count Carol Danvers.
I haven't been this mad about a comic character's death since they killed off Jamie Madrox in a flashback story about someone else's death.
If anyone else wants to join this thread, I don't expect you to use

for everything, but I figured this first post should do that, since the issue is still pretty new.
They're going to bring her back. Just as a mutant (probably with the same powers as TV Kamala). It's just an alignment with the MCU Kamala.
Most likely, yeah. And I certainly prefer that to her staying gone, but that's also annoying in its own ways.
First, it makes the death seem all the more hollow, especially since they hyped up the comic ahead of time. All of this spectacle, and yet it's impact probably won't even last a year.
And second, it's just another example of the comic books bending over backwards to match the MCU. All in the name of brand synergy, as if that's the thing that'll get movie goers to also read comics.
I like the MCU just fine, but I don't want the comics to just become an echo of it. The comics should do their own thing, just like they have been doing for decades before the MCU came along.
If Marvel wants MCU comics, then they should make actual MCU comics, as in comics that are officially a part of the MCU. Separately from the main Marvel comics.
In the case of Kamala specifically, I always found her powers interesting in the comics. Like a mix of Mr. Fantastic, (Gi)Ant-Man, and Mystique. That specific combination wasn't quite like anyone else, since she could change both her shape and her mass (maybe DC's Plastic Man could also do that, but he uses his powers very differently).
So I was disappointed when the Disney+ show changed her powers so drastically. And now, that change is (probably) making it's way into the comics, taking away those interesting powers I liked. Of course, preferring one powerset over another is just personal preference.
Yeah, this reeks of an adjustment to align her with her MCU self. They’ll discover mutant DNA in her body, the X-Men will claim her and Krakoanize her, only now she’s got the energy crystal stuff.
And I think her TV/movie powers work for her TV/movie incarnation, but shouldn’t be transposed over her core self.
ASK ME ONCE I’LL ANSWER TWICE JUST WHAT I KNOW I’LL TELL BECAUSE I WANNA!
SOUND DEVICE AND LOTS OF ICE I'LL SPELL MY NAME OUT LOUD BECAUSE I WANNA!
Has there ever been a Marvel character who was simultaneously a mutant and an inhuman? Because if they do that, and give her the crystal powers on top of her polymorph powers, that might be interesting.
I don’t think Kamala needed that, but I would prefer that to a power replacement.
Well, the prevailing theory has been confirmed by Stanley "Artgerm" Lau when he shared his upcoming cover artwork for Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant # 1. The thing we all knew this was leading to is what this was leading to.

But hey, she seems to still have her polymorph powers! That’s a positive to me.
For some reason, I'm unable to do the "quote" thing.
So, I'll just copy and paste: "Has there ever been a Marvel character who was simultaneously a mutant and an inhuman?"
The answer is "yes". Sort of. The Beyonder was retconned into being a hybrid Mutant/Inhuman. The story was set in the past during the "Secret Wars 2" with the Illuminati confronting him. Bendis did the story and screwed up.
For one thing, he had Tony Stark as Iron Man. During the original story, Jim Rhodes was IM and Tony was a drunken lush.
