We just need to start a new thread once 1000 posts are made.
Unleash the Archers is a great power metal band from Canada with a female singer who does not go for the operatic vocals.
I am posting this song because I feel like the first few seconds of the chorus the singer vocalizes the melody that is the main theme from The Cure's Lullaby.
Unleash the Archers The guitar plays the melody at around 0:47 and the chorus comes in at around 1:47
You should have provided a link on the old thread to the new thread because I initially thought you decided to put an end to these.
Since I don't know how to carry quotes from other threads to new ones, I'd like to address the draft dodger aspect of that last post. I served in the military for twenty years but that doesn't mean I was hardcore. I think a lot of my superiors often sensed that i was a bit hippy dippy and reacted accordingly toward me. As far as draft dodgers go I only have a problem with the ones that did things like pretending bone spurs by paying corrupt doctors to lie for them and then later to be a serious chickenhawk more than willing to send others off to fight a war when they were too cowardly to serve themselves. A certain loudmouth rock star bragged in High Times years about crapping and pissing all over himself to get out of the draft but is now one of the biggest chicken hawks you'll ever hear from. Another former vice president bragged that he never served because he was too busy making money. I have zero respect for people like that.
Someone like Muhammad Ali however who sacrificed his world title because he saw no reason to fight a war for the rich and powerful, I have huge respect for.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Mike Pinder passed away a few days ago. He was the last original member of the Moody Blues to pass. I've posted the Moody Blues a few times in the other thread but didn't get any reaction.
This was the band's earliest hit before they moved on to make some stellar Prog rock.

Captain Beefheart is a difficult artist to wrap your ears around which is probably why he never became a household name. I really like this early tune YouTube served up to me though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LdSqhEwvPw

I like introducing people to songs they may not have heard before, so I haven't really tried too awful hard to win. Of the nominations I posted so far I really only expect two or three to make it past the first round. I'm almost certain the King Crimson nom will not make it past the first because too many of the voters are heavily pop oriented. My Mama's Pride nom is a favorite song for me of a St. Louis area band but they fall into the hairy white male rock that so many people seem to lash out against. You won't be seeing Mama's Pride getting a rock and roll hall of fame nomination.
I couldn't resist nominating the Hu again just to be obstinate. I was surprised it got as far as it did in the last RW. This is a bit different though because the Hu are a bit overshadowed by the other artists.
If we go with a sixth nom I'm toying with White room by Cream or White Bird by It's a beautiful Day to get a hippy perspective.

I heard this on KSHE classics yesterday morning. I've heard several versions of this Tim Hardin song but this is the one I like best now that I've heard it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifgir_YCTqE

The Moodys were very good, almost great even. They had some amazing hits. When I was 14 I bought Seventh Sojourn, which was there newest album at the time. It sadly didn't hold my attention the way that Yes, Uriah Heep and other prog bands did at that same time. They had a mellowness that didn't quite fill my head the way that Pink Floyd did. Still, songs like Go Now are are why they were so big. Excellent listen.
A reminder of why this thread exists, just in case any new folks stumble across it.
Purpose:
I really enjoy Rock Wars. Although the contests are tremendous fun, I mainly participate to learn and appreciate music that I have never heard before. During nominations, my list of potential noms is always MUCH longer than what is actually able to be used, and I'm sure that is the case for many of us.
This thread is a place to share music with each other, and comment on the songs if desired. Some songs might be, but aren't limited to:
-A new performer or group just discovered
-A favorite from long ago, that just must be shared
-Another song from a performer or group that was nominated, but wasn't used
-Any song that you just HAVE to share.
-etc.
Guidelines:
Although called Rock Wars, it can be anything you like. Currently we are exploring music with Colors in the title, but it can be anything you want. This isn't a contest, but a place to share. Although I'm sure any of us could list 50 songs a day, please don't. More than one or two a day will make it too hard to enjoy what is shared, and much too hard to digest and comment on what is offered. If you wish to share why you present the song, that is your option,
Rule:
1- Please only offer one (or maybe two) songs each day. (Although it will quickly become obvious this isn’t a very firm rule!!)
I’ve been asked about the closing of the previous Overflow Bucket thread.
I didn’t close it and was a bit surprised to see that it was. I have enjoyed it immensely and have been very happy with the responses. I can only assume it had some sort of system/file size issue, or some forum rule that I wasn’t aware of. If I had my choice, it would still be open, but at least we have this new thread to carry on.
There’s still lots of music to discover out there, so off we go on our musical journey.
There is, indeed, a forum rule. Which is referenced in the first post:
Here is the original post from the other thread for reference:

For some context, my early career was with a tobacco company and then with Raytheon (now named RTX). Raytheon is a defense contractor that makes the Patriot Missile System, submarine electronics systems, largest missile producer, etc. Those companies paid for my last undergrad degree at a Quaker college and my MBA. I then decided I would rather work in less controversial areas, so worked in hospital admin and then in outsourced employee benefits with Aon Consulting. I am grateful to RTX and also grateful for the Quaker perspective of inclusion and acceptance. People make their own choices for their own reasons.
The algorithm suggested a group I've never heard of before. Looking at the site for heavenlyblueorange, it has lots of early garage band sounding, punky songs, from groups I never heard of. A few like Chocolate Watch Band, The Leaves, The Troggs I have heard, but most are 2:00 long, unknown to me songs.
On another subject, this is NOT another Band-Maid song. My excessive love of that band is probably well known, and I've not heard a band before today that I thought approached their talent. But heard another band that I think has the potential to be as good as them. Song composition, interaction of artists, pacing, tone. Think this may be their first release, can't wait to hear more.
I never really listened to the Move much but two of its members: Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood, went on to form Electric Light Orchestra. Roy Wood only lasted for the first album and then bowed out to do his own thing leaving ELO to Jeff Lynne.
Roy Wood formed a band called Wizzard and they were a bit quirky to say the least. In the 70s there was a lot of 50s and early 60s nostalgia going on. Shanana was popular as was American Graffiti and at least two songs by Elton John seemed to smack of that era. Benny & The Jets and Crocodile Rock. 10CC had at least two songs on their first album that evoked that period, Donna and Johnny Don't Do It. Those two songs probably only got a lot of airplays in England though.
Roy Wood's Wizzard put this album out and it irked me that I could never find it on CD but iTunes finally has it with several bonus tracks.
Some good songs that are great homages to the pre- psychedelic era.
