Need help! In the middle of a game. Close combat HSS and toughness.
My nightcrawler is trying to attack friends shehulk who has toughness. When using his close combat hss attack can i roll until i miss and keep hurting or her or does her toughness just keep reducing the one damage. Thanks.
General FAQs page 2, PAC corrections:
HYPERSONIC SPEED: Replace the text under option (2) with the following: Give this character a power action. It may perform a close combat attack as a free action. The attacking character’s damage value becomes 1. If the attack is successful, this character may continue to perform close combat attacks as free actions against the same target. Increase the target’s defense value by +1 for each successful attack after the first. Increase the attacker’s damage value by +1 for each successful attack after the first. The attack ends when the attacking player declares an end to the attacks or an attack misses. When the attack ends, damage dealt equals the attacker’s total damage value.
So, you add to the damage value of the attacker for each successful attack after the first. The damage dealt to the target is equal to the final damage value of the attacker. So, If NC is successful with 4 attacks, his total damage value is 4 for the attack. This is the damage dealt to the target. Then the Toughness is applied, changing the damage dealt to 3 damage taken by She-Hulk.
Thanks for the help guys. We played the closest game ever. It was his 600 points of fantastic four versus my 600 points of xmen. It came down to a beat up nightcrawler versus a beat up invisible woman v. I kept rolling high numbers while he kept missing. I finally knocked invisible woman out when nightcrawler was on his last click. It was alot of fun.
