When Frank Castle wants you dead, you'd best start running or get some backup. When one of his targets does the latter, he calls in his own. In this edition of Comic Accurate, it's The Punisher and "friends"!
In the current Punisher series, Frank is stepping his game up to the big leagues. After killing The Mandarin in the first issue, he's set his sights on Baron Zemo. And the Baron wants absolutely none of it. The Punisher chased Zemo to his country of Bagalia, and burned it down. So Baron ran to NYC and asked Mayor Fisk for some protection. Fisk permitted Zemo to stay and allowed him to round up some of his old Thunderbolts buddies along with Jigsaw to handle Frank.
So since Frank is all about escalation, he got some help, even if some of it he didn't ask for. The Black Widow, Moon Knight and Night Thrasher get his back. Though Frank wants a little more gun, he recruits an old ally, Rachel Cole-Alves and drafts Danny Ketch, Ghost Rider.
Now it's on and we have not one, but TWO teams today to face off against one another...
Why these figures - For the heroes, I started out with Rachel, Thrasher and GR since we have limited contemporary options for them. Then I went with Punisher since I wanted some decent stats, no shifting focus and something closer to the comic than some other options. Then it was picking a Moon Knight and Black Widow that fit the remaining points. And I wouldn't fault anyone that goes with the other Widow from Avengers/Defenders War that has the Marvel Knights trait for a minimum 10 attack. I opted for this one since Running Shot is preferable to me over Charge in this case.
The villains were a little trickier. Basically if one uses a version of Zemo as Citizen V and Karla as Meteorite, the build can't reach 500. It tops out at 400. So settling for Zemo as himself and Karla in her old Moonstone outfit gets us up to 500. But really, that Zemo is gooooood.
Tips for running these teams - For the heroes, Rachel's going to be super useful. Being able to grant the use of certain standard powers to adjacent friendlies is really going to help. Have her give Penetrating/Psychic Blast to allies with Running Shot or Precision Strike to literally anyone. Have her take the RCE since she's not too mobile on her own. And while there's no other New Warriors on the team, Night Thrasher's Leadership will still be useful enough to take tokens off lower point friendlies. And while most of them have Willpower, getting to use them more if you get the roll won't be too shabby.
For the villains, feel free to use Jigsaw as Zemo's Mastermind fodder. It won't make Jigsaw's scar tokens better, it's just he's the most disposable of the group. And while the heroes have great offense and movement powers, the villains have more Outwit and Perplex and the ever brutal Pulse Wave. Provided Moonstone doesn't get clocked off Running Shot early, she could be an MVP.
If you run the two teams against one another let us know who wins! And if you just run one, let us know how either team does for you! Next week, it's a new issue of Unclixed! Then in two weeks, it's another edition of Comic Accurate!
I really like the addition of a villain team to take on the hero team. Good stuff and frankly this is the way I prefer to play games vs The Meta. Please keep this up.
Good teams, like it, athough this Punisher comic sucks. And do we need a new Ghost (hooray, we will get him next year) and Jigsaw. And new New Warriors would be good, too!
thanks for the double feature! I dig any excuse to field offbeat teamups and once off arrangements and this article series is definitely my jam
pitting the two against each other is a wonderful idea and i'm glad you were able to magically make 'em fit. my only problem is Rachel is too expensive for me to want to get for the limited use i'd get out of her, but i'm glad there's a good comic accurate team to put her on
I still don't get why they didn't just name her punisher beyond wanting to be cute with the flavor text of her . i'd like to see more of frank's followers clixed. outlaw, the punisher of London, in particular

Just got back from a game running these two up against one another with a friend. He picked the bad guys.
It was a massacre. Zemo and crew got wiped out and the only heroic casualty was Night Thrasher. Ghost Rider got an early hit in on Moonstone and with her threat nerfed, it was a lot easier against them. Moon Knight got knocked to his first click of CCE and one-shotted Jigsaw then finished off Fixer later. Punisher and Rachel gunned down Moonstone and Ghost. Widow was finishing off Radioactive Man and Zemo after Ghost Rider softened them up. It was brutal.
